Which would be better for Republicans:
1) Confirming Kavanaugh quickly and then looking terrible when all these things came out, having to vote on impeachment?
2) Holding a hearing for the (at the time) only accuser Dr. Ford before voting to confirm? So they could say they'd listened to her first?
The Republicans seem to have been playing chicken, assuming that no other allegations would come out.
Why they didn't listen to Avenatti, who's been emailing the counsel for judicial appointments since Monday, I don't know. He doesn't tend to bluff, and his questions were extremely specific.
