Mexican illegal immigrant charged with stabbing Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts to death pleads not guilty to first-degree murder
Cristhian Bahena Rivera, 24, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Mollie Tibbetts
He appeared Wednesday at Poweshiek District Court where he entered the plea
The judge scheduled the trial date for April 16, 2019
Rivera is suspected of stabbing Tibbetts to death in Brooklyn, Iowa on July 18
He has been jailed on $5million bond and charged with 1st degree murder
Case became national news when it was learned Rivera lived in U.S. illegally
