Maryland authorities were responding to the scene of a shooting with "multiple victims," the Harford County Sheriff's Office tweeted on Thursday morning.

Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the scene at 9:09 a.m. ET, the sheriff's office tweeted.

‘Multiple victims’ reported in Maryland shooting

There were “multiple victims” from a shooting in a commercial area in Maryland Thursday morning, police said.

The 9:09 a.m. shooting happened in Aberdeen, near Spesutia and Perryman roads, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

The conditions of the victims were not immediately known.

“The situation is still fluid. Please avoid the area,” the sheriff’s office said in a tweet.

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan said in a tweet: “We are closely monitoring the horrific shooting in Aberdeen. Our prayers are with all those impacted, including our first responders. The State stands ready to offer any support.”

The FBI responded to the scene as well as the Baltimore Field Division for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Aberdeen is roughly 30 miles away from Baltimore.

ABERDEEN, Md. (AP) — The Latest on the shooting in Maryland (all times local):

11:25 a.m.

An official says three people have been killed in a shooting in Harford County, Maryland, that authorities describe as an “active shooter” situation.

The law enforcement official has knowledge of the shooting but wasn’t authorized to discuss details by name and spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office tweeted that there was a shooting Thursday morning in the Perryman area that involves “multiple victims.” They warn that the situation is still fluid and asked people to avoid the area.

The FBI’s Baltimore field office tweets that it’s responding and assisting the sheriff’s office with an active shooter situation. The Baltimore field division of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives tweets that its special agents are responding too.

A spokeswoman for Rite Aid says a shooting has taken place on the campus of a company distribution center in Aberdeen, Maryland.

Spokeswoman Susan Henderson told The Associated Press on Thursday morning that the shooting happened at a support facility adjacent to a larger building.

A law enforcement official told The Associated Press that three people have been killed in the shooting. The law enforcement official has knowledge of the shooting but wasn’t authorized to discuss details by name and spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press. The official stressed that the number is based on preliminary information.

Henderson says authorities are at the scene and the company is cooperating with the investigation.

She says the company has no further information to share.

Maryland distribution center shooting leaves multiple people dead, wounded, police say

The lone shooter responsible for killing at least three people and wounding several others during a Thursday morning assault on a Maryland distribution center was in custody and in critical condition, police said.

A law enforcement official told The Associated Press three people were killed in the shooting at the Rite Aid distribution center in Aberdeen. Raymond Fang, the trauma medical director at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, said the hospital received four people suffering from gunshot wounds. He did not elaborate on their conditions.

The suspected shooter was in the hospital, though police officers did not discharge their weapons during the incident, officials said....

Krystal Watson, 33, said her husband, Eric, works at the facility and told her that the shooter was a female co-worker. Watson said her husband told her that the woman had been arguing with somebody else near a time clock after a “Town Hall meeting.”

“And she went off,” she said.

Watson said her husband told her the shooting started in a break room.
