EPA lost more than 1,500 workers in first 18 months of Trump administration: report

By John Bowden - 09/08/18 10:44 PM EDT

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reportedly lost eight percent of its staff in the first 18 months of President Trump's administration due to high numbers of departing staffers and a low number of new hires.

The Washington Post reported Saturday that nearly 1,600 workers left the EPA during that time, while fewer than 400 were hired. The agency's employment has shrunk to its lowest levels since the Reagan administration, the Post noted.

According to data retrieved by the Post under a Freedom of Information Act request, the EPA has lost as many as 260 scientists, 106 engineers and 185 “environmental protection specialists," numbers which include both longtime veterans of the department and less experienced employees.

I'm amused by the term "lost."  Sounds  like they were drowned in a boating accident or the EPA can't find them.

Anyway -- good.   Now let's reduce the workforce all departments, bureaus and agencies.    In fact, let's get rid of many department, bureaus and agencies altogether.

ALL federal agencies should have this.
In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

When at the end of the fiscal year the EPA (and every other federal department) hands money back to the US Treasury, then and only then will I be happy.  It does no good if the EPA still spends every dollar they are given even though they have 1,200 fewer employees.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

Good.
Now lose 8% more.
Better yet, lose 15%.

A rhetorical question I've posed in other topics:
Of all the 2016 Republican candidates, which one (other than Mr. Trump) would have done this if he had won?
Rubio?
Jeb?
That mailman's son from Ohio?
Carly?
Even... Ted?

C'mon....

Done what exactly? Eight friggin percent reduction of personnel in one department?
THAT is supposed to bring 'Happy happy, joy joy'?
You could probably do nearly four percent by attrition alone, and a far, far cry from what needs to be done.

It is a good thing. Credit where it is due. But not worthy of crowing headlines. Not by a long shot.

So much good news.

Its easy to enjoy it if folks would just stop making it about Trump.
