Investigation into alleged cocaine smuggling by 7th Group soldier continues
Jim Thompson

EGLIN AFB — No charges have been filed against a 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) soldier identified earlier this month as part of an alleged attempt to smuggle 88 pounds of cocaine out of Colombia, according to the group’s commander, Army Col. Patrick Colloton.

Master Sgt. Daniel Gould, who has been with the 7th Group for several years, remains free but under the watch of military and civilian authorities as he apparently takes some role in what authorities have described as an ongoing investigation, Colloton said.

The 7th Group is cooperating with the investigation, Colloton said. Leadership at the group is working to “make sure (Gould) has time to participate in the investigation,” Colloton added.
