House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., reportedly traveled to London earlier this month to collect intelligence on Trump dossier author Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence officer.
Nunes was investigating whether British authorities were aware of Steele’s contact with Bruce Ohr, a Department of Justice official who has recently drawn fire from President Trump and Republicans over his ties to Steele, the Atlantic reported Tuesday. He also wanted information on Steele’s service record.
Nunes, who has been highly critical of the Russia investigation, requested meetings with the heads of MI5, MI6, and the Government Communications Headquarters, the report said. He left having met only with the U.K.’s deputy national security adviser Madeleine Alessandri.
