German officials say the 95-year-old former Nazi concentration camp guard who was deported from the U.S. is not expected to stand trial, The Guardian newspaper is reporting.

“Right now, there is no investigation into him in Germany, which means there is no arrest warrant and as a result it is not very likely that he will ever be convicted,” Jens Rommel, who heads the Central Office for the Investigation of Nazi Crimes in Ludwigsburg told German television on Wednesday.

When they got a lead on the guy, it was around 2002 more or less, he was still around 78 years old. Too bad, he was not promptly deported in this case.
