It seems there is less and less common ground in discourse in America anymore as the constantly redrawn battle lines move farther and farther apart, taking with them even the folks on both fringes, severely narrowing the space for what have heretofore been known as “moderates.”

With the advent of the militant left, Maxine Waters et al and Andrew Cuomo’s America “was never that great” comment [1], the lines change again, as even would-be liberals cannot countenance the harassing of families having dinner in a public place or the fallacy that the nation that has been the savior of freedom on Planet Earth, and has lead the world in technology, military power, industrial strength and personal liberty for over two centuries, is not and “was never that great.”

We need a new model, and maybe in 2020 we'll get it.   If the Dems get foolish and nominate a socialist, and the GOP re-ups for Trump,  the way will be cleared for a true centrist to emerge as a third party candidate.

That would be logical if this were normal times and the bulk of the population had the same overall mindsets and beliefs as our parents and grandparents.

I'm discerning each side grows more militant and more confrontational. 

We may soon each see an election 'choice' between a Mussolini or a Stalin and the campaign for each will be as vicious as one can imagine - with claims each of them will 'save the country'.
