Quote
The social justice left and the reactionary right have never been at each other's throats more viciously than today. Antifa warriors and alt-right foot soldiers attack each other at rallies, clash on campuses, and see each other as mortal enemies.

But the weird thing is that when it comes to issues, their standard bearers, Bernie Sanders and President Trump, have never been closer together.
The latest proof of this came just last week when Trump unloaded against the billionaire Koch brothers on Twitter. The Kochs are free-market libertarians who have been aghast at the protectionist, restrictionist, and racist turn of the GOP under Trump....

Alright. The mental rejects at Reason are at it again banging out pointless pieces trying to claim Trump is a Nationalist when he is governing to the Right of Bush. Hard to believe that the Libertarians are a laughing stock as a political movement.

Well, when it comes to taxing and spending, there's not much difference between Trump's mob and the Left except to whom they target for the taxation and whom the beneficiaries are.

Then there's the desire by both to ridicule, excoriate and punish everyone who is not them.

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. Article is attempt # 10471 of Usual Suspects @ aantitrumphub.com to call Trump and his supporters Nazis and or Hitler.

It is totally old, lame, wrong, etc. But it joins 3 plus years of ongoing failures.

Off the top of my mind, come 3 particular Trump supporters. All 3 are Hispanic, Vietnam Vets.

Living in Amarillo TX, Tucson AZ and Whittier CA. Flag waving patriotic Americans.

It is so ridiculous to try demeaning them as "white nationalist," but you have your heads so ar up your "foundational principles," they cannot be located with advanced mining technology.

The U.S. was born nationalistic. Internationalism has been a hallmark of big government.

No one will readily admit it, but every nationalist movement up to this point in history, has had to use socialist policies/tendencies, in one way or another, to accomplish its goals.

Funny how every declaration with the stink of internationalism requires that we relinquish more and more of our unique liberties as Americans, yet 'nationalism' is considered a threat to the Constitution.

In its strict literal sense that would be true, but nationalism in its current usage is the new pejorative for what used to be known as America First, much the same as xenophobe is used to describe those who are for secure borders.

Those who control the language control the debate.

@Frank Cannon

Some people just can NOT accept reality. They have invested years in RINO worship, and will never admit they are wrong.

By "both" @INVAR ?  Don't you mean by "all"?  Certainly you don't put yourself above this human frailty.

Nope.

I don't read from Libertarians and Constitutionalists the same kind of vitriolic threatening crap I read from Trump fanatics and Antifa-esque Leftists.

I don't look to empower government to do what you want it to do for you or what the Left wants it to do for them.

Certainly not to employ punishment on their targeted adversaries as I read from the vast majority of Trump fanatics and rabid Marxists that I read online.  Two peas in a pod, flip side of the same stupid coin AFAIC.

I'm not motivated by mass movements and large herds that warn: 'Get on our train or get crushed by it', and then go berserk every single time they sense or read a criticism because they are so easily offended by anyone who is not them and cheerleading along with them.

It isn't what you want - It is what you'll let happen to get what you want... and in the end, you won't get what you want anyway.

Which is the similar to the point I was trying to make.
You have this constitutionally pesky little thing called a congress, which can be like herding cats, but that is by design.
Making laws that affect millions should not be an easy process.
Sometimes the best course of action is none at all, or dismantling existing bad laws.
To get an agenda across  by bypassing the legislative branch, would be no different in ether Nationalism or Socialism.
The other thing they have in common, is finding national "solutions" to what could be, in many cases, local or state issues.
In fairness to President Trump, he has had a lot of what could be considered overreach, yet we haven't finished year two.
The tariffs are an interesting issue, as being considered revenue/taxation, shouldn't Congress have oversight?
Also, what will happen when he or the base get restless with what can be perceived as inaction?
