GOP senator: 'Real likelihood' Dems win the House 'by 10 or 12 more seats than they need'
By Jacqueline Thomsen - 08/08/18 08:47 PM EDT

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) warned that Democrats could win back control of the House and pick up more seats than they need to hold the majority in the upcoming midterm elections.

“There’s a real likelihood that they not only win the House, but they win it by 10 or 12 more seats than they need,” Graham told The New York Times on Wednesday.

Graham said that while he was unsure if Democrats would win back the House — “in the era of Trump, things can change in 24 hours, for good or bad” — all Republicans in competitive districts should prepare for a difficult general election in November.

“We’re bleeding among women and the enthusiasm factor for Democrats is worth 7 or 8 points, and sometimes more,” Graham told The Times.

“If I was a House guy in an R+10 or less seat I’d be getting on the phone and raising money and putting a sign on my dog,” he added.

Lindsey Graham knows about this election - his advice is sound. He is a smart lawyer whose parents were killed when he was a teenager.  He and his sister lived with the grandparents and Lindsey worked a job to help the grandparents.  He sent himself to college, then sent his sister to college.  Those who cast stones at him, do not know him.

I hope he is wrong.

I don't throw stones but I don't like Lindsey Graham because he doesn't work for Americans.  Voters made it absolutely clear they are tired of out of control immigration when they voted for Trump.  United States Border Control rated him 27% for his open border stance.  He has continuously advocated for immigration sighting that we need workers.  I guess he is one who really has not agreed with Trumps platform on immigration.

http://www.ontheissues.org/Senate/Lindsey_Graham.htm#Immigration

I happen to agree with what Trump campaigned on which is border security.  I just never believed the rhetoric he was spewing.  Obviously with people like Lindsey Graham he can't even get close to fulfilling campaign promises.  Flat out I am against any immigration at this time.  Our country has been flooded with low wage illegal immigrants of which we must bear the burden to care for them.  If these politicians don't get off their asses and protect us from the undue burden of illegal immigrants I find them traitors.  They are expecting us to feed, house and give them medical care on our dollar.  It is a heavy burden I am tired of.  So yes Lindsey could fade away and I sure wouldn't miss him.

Stop welfare programs to all illegal immigrants now.

Scare tactics to try and get what remains of their base to go out and vote, or are they really concerned they could lose both the House and Senate?  (Not that they care to be in leadership anyway given their fruits).

The GOP has cried wolf so many times over the last three decades on that one note sonata, not many are listening to the party who cried 'Democrats will win and kill you all!' anymore.

They deserve to lose.  They do not deserve our trust or our votes.

Seriously.  Too many people lose perspective because they aren't totally satisfied with Trump or with the Congress.

They seem to think they are compromising their integrity if they vote for anyone who is not perfect.

They refuse to recognize that evil in the form of the Left and the Democrat Party, which is becoming more crazy and more socialist all the time, is just waiting for an opportunity to take over.

And if they ever do, those people will long for the good old imperfect GOP days.

Lady Lindsey has always been a drama queen.

He's just stating what he HOPES happens so his own political career isn't ruined. If Trump and Trump supporters take a hit,his own Senate seat will be safer. If they win big,he might be leaving government service come the results of the next election.

Good Jesus. That is the biggest non sequitur I have ever read on this site in 2 years. A Senators dead parents makes him qualified to make pronouncements in elections he isn't involved in? This is the same jackass that thought the Gang of 8 agreement would boost the hell out of GOP enthusiasm when it destroyed the party for years.

When Republicans win Conservatism loses and the Leftist agenda wins.

Those are the fruits of the GOP.

So - it's a lose, lose no matter which of them wins as far as I am concerned.

At least when the Democrats vote for their Commies, they know what they are getting.

For me  it's not about my integrity.  It's about being tired of being lied to so often.  "Give us congress and we will do all these things" (eg, repeal Obamacare)  So the voters gave the Republicans both houses of congress and...NOTHING.  Then a couple of years ago I heard "vote for Trump and these promises will be fulfilled."  Well, the Republicans now have had both houses of congress AND the presidency and... well, other than the tax tweak (not the reform we were promised), the Republicans have given us NOTHING.

So for the midterms -- at least where I live -- we are getting the same promises if we vote Republican.  Not only that, but in our races the candidates the party has  put up are as dull as dirty dishwater.  We have a couple of guys who look like they are from the Mafia. One guy was in the state legislature where the Republicans are just as much tax and spend and socialist as the Democrats.

Don't give me that same tired line that I have to vote Republican to "save us from the Democrats."  After all these years of empty promises, being lied to and Republicans being the same as the Democrats, why should I waste my time voting for Republicans?

We've been doing it for 30 years, practicing insanity while the Republicans take us further to the Left when they are in power than the Democrats do.

They refuse to recognize that evil in the form of the Left and the Democrat Party, which is becoming more crazy and more socialist all the time, is just waiting for an opportunity to take over.

You refuse to recognize the same evil took over your party and has played you and all of us for fools and idiots.  They are just less rabid than the overt Communists now asserting full control of the Democrat party.  Your party is now wholly infiltrated and run by Liberal Democrats having changed the rules to prohibit any possible chance for a grassroots limited government moral Conservative to win a national office. The contempt and seething vitriol your party has levied against the principles of Conservatism has been laid bare for all willing to see it.

And if they ever do, those people will long for the good old imperfect GOP days.

Nope.  They are the reason we got here to begin with.

It is really funny.  I know lots of liberals and they always talk about the greedy corporate......yada, yada.  Here in Washington the biggest corporations have liberals at the head of them.  Do you think they aren't taking advantage of every tax break?  Every opportunity to screw the American worker by hiring foreign workers on H1B's.  Yep these liberals are greeeeedy.   They like to pretend that the liberals are there for the lower class.  Well you can see what they have done for the African American people.  Enslaved them for their votes.  Now they have Hispanics.  Welfare, welfare.  Rich neighborhoods and slums.  Educated and uneducated.  High paying jobs and no jobs.

It isn't a favor, welfare.  So there is a difference it is called socialism.  The rich get richer and the poor get poorer, but we will have the taxpayer provide all of your welfare needs.

I feel like I am rambling...........Oh I am.  Struggling too to find the difference.  I think there is but my brain has to work overtime to figure it out.  Yes, got it now.  Only free stuff for Hispanics.

Well here in Missouri we had a lot more republicans voting Tuesday than the democrats Josh got more voting for him than Claire a lot more in the primary and he had 5 or 6 others trying for the top spot unlike Claire oonly had two or three. So we will have to see I know in my state the republicans are fired up hopefully that will mean a republican win in the senate.

Integrity, when it comes to voting in the current political environment, is a luxury.  And as for being lied to, get used to it.  Politicians lie.  They ALL do it.  It's called political capital to get them elected.  Being lied to by them is something I have almost gotten used to.  Almost.

That said, by not voting.... out of anger at being, once again and per usual, lied to....

that would equate to handing the nation back over to the radical leftists (like Obama, Hillary, Schumer, Pelosi, etc.).  My "integrity" won't let me do that.

No quarter given to the enemy within...ever.

You can vote your way into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out of it.

WHY do you and others keep insisting on lumping Trump in with the evil career political bastards that keep selling us down the river over and over? The only reason Trump hasn't done more is because those ALLEGED Republican buttholes refuse to support him and try to block ever move he makes. If they spent HALF the effort trying to derail their Dim colleagues that they spend trying to derail Trump,America would already be a very different, safer, and more conservative nation.

The Party People allleged Republicans are the indistinguishable from the Dims on virtually every policy issue. They are brothers in everything but name, and Lady Lindsey and John McLunatic are two of the worse now that the Bush Crime Family is at least temporarily out of play.

The FACT is that Trump HAD to run as either a Dim or a Republican to have any chance at all of winning. Since the DNC was already set on another Clinton Presidency, his only option was to run as a Republican.

If you refuse to vote for or support Trump BECAUSE he is wearing the "Republican Label",you are shooting yourself in the foot.

ONLY because Trump is President. If any other Republican candidate had won the Presidency,it would have just been more of the same and we would have made zero progress stopping the destruction of our nation.

...

...

Sorry, but I don't see this "progress" you and so many Trump supporters mention.  My taxes didn't change under the tax tweak.  We still have an invasion of illegals and in spite of those government figures (which have been fudged under numerous presidential administrations for decades and are still being fudged), the economy isn't ay better.  And thanks to Trump and his temper tantrums, a/k/a trade wars, the sock market goes crazy, prices for the consumer go up and at least one company I know of has closed its doors.  Does that sound like a good economy to you?

You are correct that 8 years of Obama rule cannot be undone overnight, but in 18 months of Republican rule in both houses of congress and the presidency,   I've seen little effort toward making progress.  That's because Republicans, despite their claims to the contrary, love Obamacare, love our present tax system, love having illegals and alleged refugees come into this country in droves.  They don't want anything to change.  And they will be ecstatic when the Democrats get back into power again.  The pressure to keep their promises will be off.

I for one hope the midterms cause enough damage to the Republican Party that it will never recover.  Maybe then a more conservative, American values party will emerge from the ashes.
