Socialism can't flourish without ignorance
By Joe Herring

The capacity of human beings for making the same mistake again and again is exceeded only by the capacity of their governments to enshrine those mistakes in law.

To err is human; to forgive, divine – but what are we to do when a significant segment of our population has grown so enamored of an error that they lose the capability to recognize it as such?  Indeed, they become violently defensive at the mere mention of reassessing their beliefs.

I suspect that a very large percentage of millennials don't know what happened last year much less for decades or centuries  historically. I would bet many of them have no idea who Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, or even Castro and Chavez are.
For these people history began the day they were born or maybe just last week/yesterday. They are ahistorical in their thinking.
For many of them the idea that everybody should get to live in  a huge mansion with a fleet of cars, airplanes, and other luxuries  seems like a realizable goal. Just tax that evil one percent a little (or a lot) more, and utopia can be achieved for everybody. Hey, pass me that doobie.

"My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. "Because [they] have rejected knowledge, I also reject [them] as my priests; because [they] have ignored the law of God, I also will ignore [their] children." - Hosea 4:6

Without the knowledge and understanding of foundational principles, a people are easily beguiled into accepting foreign ideas and beliefs antithetical to their existence and adopting them for their own, to their own destruction.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775
