You’ve doubtless heard of the feud between President Trump and the Koch network. The pretext is tariffs; the real issue is immigration, and the rift between Trump and the Kochs runs deep. In fact, it points to a profound political tension in America that could tear apart the Republican coalition. Handled badly, it’s the kind of split that leaves the field open for radicals on the Left — which increasingly describes most of the Democratic Party.

On one level, the divide is not surprising. The Kochs never claimed to be conservatives. Nor even the kind of classical liberal that Adam Smith really was, who aims for limited government (The Wealth of Nations), and a populace virtuous enough to sustain it (Theory of Moral Sentiments).

No, the Kochs are libertarians of some expansive sort, who don’t make clear what limits (if any) they put on their anti-government zeal. So I can’t say if they’re full-on anarcho-capitalists, like my old friend Jeffrey Tucker. In that view, the State is too dangerous to ever be trusted with anything.

from the article:
Quote
If that outrages libertarians like the Kochs, and they use their leverage to savage or cripple Trump, they won’t have to worry about populist conservatism for long. We’ll have the full-on socialism that leading Democrats are now bold enough to demand. And libertarians will be as marginal and irrelevant in America as they currently are in Mexico.

False dichotomy, and stone dead wrong.
Civil-Libertarianism seen through the prism of Judeo-Christian ethics is the Conservative conscience.

Rejecting both, or either, results in the same direction as the democrats', wrapped in a flimsy patriotism, with the very same battle cry, of 'The ends justify the means'. What ends?

Dana Loesch made a point today.  She said it might be good to remember that the Koch brothers had a large part in getting the Republican majority.

I don't know if it's telling; no one thinks they're far-right.  But the point stands.

And Koch owns the ones he brought to Congress .... which is why we don't have funding for the wall, among other things.

Here in Wisconsin our super leftist senator Tammy Baldwin's campaign ads have been  attacking  the "evil Koch brothers" who are supporting whomever opposes Baldwin.
The gist of the ads is that outsiders like the Koch Bros. have no  business telling Wisconsinites who to vote for.
Naturally, Baldwin takes as much outside money as she can.

Close.  It's politics as usual --- and this is why people paying attention are trying to change it.

Did they? From my fuzzy memories I believe it was the American people getting pissed off at the direction the Rats were taking the country, a la Obamacare.

For YEARS these dumb bastards have been dumping money into whoever they thought that could help them. Their longest running project has been cheap labor to turn their trees into pulp and lumber. Unfortunately for them the American public want nothing to do with it. Just like all the money Soros as thrown away trying to get what he wanted and failed, so go the Cocks down the same worthless road.

Well, you’re a Q believer, so maybe we’ll find out the Kochs are included in the pedo-cannibalism ring.  Trump will be on it.

Well, yeah, according to Loesch, and her memory didn’t seem fuzzy.  She said she spent months going around the country then, and she knew firsthand how much the Kochs were responsible.

Yeah right. She was some nobody soccer mom running around with a bullhorn in '10. If you recall the GOP was even winning dog catcher election in that cycle. That was way beyond a bunch of rich guys throwing around money.

It's easier to understand once you accept the fact that all the Kochs really care about is making and protecting wealth.

2009.  She had a radio show then.  I’ll take her word since she was personally involved.

This is more simple binary Freeperish thinking—-you don’t like someone, so you can NEVER EVER admit they might have done anything remotely positive.  It’s so damn tiresome.

I like Dana, but the fact is she was a nobody prior to the Tea Party movement. She also had no real national exposure prior to the Blaze. Just because she thinks something doesn't make it true.

BTW I notice you keep defending this broad and not addressing the issue like I had. What did the Cocks do exactly that made them pivotal in that 2010 election cycle? They did nothing more than funnel money into certain groups pockets, but that sure as shit doesn't explain the sweep the GOP had in local and state elections. What does explain it is the massive backlash to Obama and then Obamacare.*

How about the Koch bros, having already gotten what they wanted from the GOP (tax and regulatory  reductions) look to the future, and open orders with democrats (and unuf like minded Repubs like McCain Ryan etc)?

Let's just say damn them for having any hand in achieving a Republican majority.  Happy?  Have fun.
