At least with the real thing you know it is hand made with top quality materials that will last a century and can probably resell for close to the original price.

I doubt all that hand-crafted high quality would impress me... But then, all my high quality stuff is coyote tan, and is beat to crap, and that silly thing would not hold up to what they've been through... Not a freakin chance.

Always wondered about that...how much of the high price goes into superb quality of materials, handle strap strength for example.

Does the handbag stand up to 'Father Time' compared to the knock-off put into service on the same day?

I've got 15 year old suits hanging in my closet that still look and wear like new.  Maybe the quality of the thread DOES matter?

Same with footwear.  Is 'ECCO' worth the price?   IMO, yes.

No way a 'Men's Warehouse' garment would still be wearable.

@Frank Cannon

I win money at casinos and give it to people who need it.  Money I could spend on fancy purses is given to people who need it.  Yes, I do have class with God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.

Well I am a part of that cycle too. I take the money you give to the needy when they give it to me in the form of rent and then blow it at Gucci, Prada and other places that don't sell Chinamen made shit. Thank you for doing your part.

BTW you might need this:

LOL! See, you and me are in entirely different worlds. I don't even own a suit anymore, and predictably never will again. I go to a funeral nowadays, I go as I am, and folks are alright with that (assumes pants, of course).

The closest I can come to all that is my Carhartts. The older set is probably 20 years old and have been to hell and back. In reality, all that fine stitching and high quality you are pointing to wouldn't last a day where they've been.

Shoes I get, to a degree. A set of mountain boots can set you back a touch. Same with Mukluks. But what makes em fine is that they can be resoled. That they can be taken apart piece by piece, and every piece can be remade and repaired. That can cost you a high dollar, but it is worth it. My hiking boots are Whites and have been around so long I can't even tell you how old they are. Same with the muks... The cobbler just keeps putting them back together. My first set of hikers were Dexters, that I bought when I was still in high school, and I had them way over half my life.

Shitkickers are a different thing. They have to be able to be resoled, because right off the get go I have to take em down and have a full-ride heel installed. They don't come that way so much anymore. But beyond that, They will probably only get resoled once.

I carry two pair. One nice set, and one working set. The nice set are for going out, but really that is so you can break em in easy. They become the working set when the old working set are done. Hopefully I am able to wear them all day by then.

But they only last about a year or two once they hit the barnyard. All the animal piss you are walking in tends to eat the leather. You'll get one resole, maybe two... so it ain't worth spending a mint on them.

For women's bags, generally the expensive ones are quality.  The workmanship is excellent and the leather is "like buttah."

You just keep them clean, treat the leather, and if something needs fixing a trip to the cobbler's shop will take care of it.  I've been doing that with a Coach bag for twenty years.

She's probably sitting there, smiling like a cat, thinking about the cash she wins when she goes to casinos.  She cleans up.

Oh yeah. I forgot about this new economic cycle. She prays to Jesus for a hot streak at the craps tables while enjoying the contents of her fashionable Chinese purse/cooler. She then immediately hits the gaming tables at the Indian casino and takes them worse than the Dutch took the Canarsee and Lenape for Manhattan. She then makes it rain dolla dolla on the hobos and derelicts outside the casino where I then relinquish it from them so they can sleep under a leaky roof tenement. I then send that money overseas to luxury durable goods manufacturers.

Have a few pair of virtually 'new' L.L. Bean, but got them for free.  LOL!

I liked that model....even like what it morphed into with that 'hump' trunk lid.

That's what I thought...  so it does justify the price is you spread out its usefulness over the 120 months.

So, now all can tell their husband to give them 2K for a handbag.   happy77

It isn't luck.  If I don't know something, I keep at it until I know it all.  I did that with casino machines.  Only play machines that give free games, that increases you odds greatly.  Always play the max amount as that is the only way to win the most money.  Don't play machines with all the pictures on them.  Play the ones you can see the reels.  Play ones with less reels.  So less reels and free games and betting the max, means you win more times/make more money.  I have one machine at one casino, that has paid me several thousand.  A machine I used at another casino was taken out not long ago.  I have recently identified one more machine there that may do well for me.  I also play poker machines.  It is Bob that taught me what to do on those machines.  Those machines take thinking to know which cards to hold.  We both do well on poker machines.

We seem to win more in the late afternoon/night hours than during the day, so go later in the day than daytime.  Casinos can change the payoff on machines any time they want so maybe they are set to pay more in the evening.

Casinos are day care for seniors.  They are safe there and can have some fun playing the penny machines.  They are there in wheelchairs and using canes.

Wow. Here I thought you were making it rain dolla dolla on the hobos and derelicts, but you are hitting slots. When you throw coins in the air for all the hobos that must be a massacre......slugs of metal raining down on them like shrapnel from a pipe bomb.

Lol, are you getting politically correct on us?  I don't remember anything about Indian casinos.

Where did you see that part---about giving to the derelicts outside the casino?  Because as hard as I look, I can't find it.

I did see her say she gives to charity.  You're not mocking charitable giving, are you?  Last I heard, being cheap with the giving is a liberal trait.

Dude, if you're spending your money for "luxury durable goods", and getting '70s junk pimpmobiles, you're getting your butt swindled off.  You don't have to settle for that stuff these days.

Frank, why the hell don't you go take a Midol?  I can give you some.  And maybe put a heating pad on until the cramps pass.

When making money is as easy as it is for me does it really matter if I am getting swindled? As long as I am having fun that's all that matters. I don't just give my money to the filthy Italians. I also give it to the Surrender Monkey French....
