AMEN! An attorney for Trump, Jay Sekulow confirmed Wednesday that Pastor Andrew Brunson, an American from North Carolina, was finally released from a Turkish prison after he was arrested 21 months ago for the crime of “Christianization.”

And Turkey is supposed to be an ally to the United States??

Jay Sekulow and the ACLJ have been working and praying around the clock fighting for the release of Andrew Brunson.

In a major development, American Pastor Andrew Brunson has been moved from the Turkish prison to his house in Turkey.

The ACLJ represents the family of Pastor Andrew – a U.S. citizen from Black Mountain, North Carolina – who has spent nearly 21 months imprisoned in Turkey because of his Christian faith.  Pastor Andrew has been on trial for the crime of “Christianization,” and the ACLJ has been working in this country and abroad to secure his freedom.

We have confirmed that the Turkish government has issued an order releasing Pastor Andrew from prison and allowing him to be returned to his home in Turkey. This is a critical first step that we believe will result in the freedom of Pastor Andrew so he can return to the United States and be reunited with his family.

The President has played a critical role in securing the freedom of Pastor Andrew.  We have worked closely with the President on this matter and are grateful for his efforts.  We look forward to the ultimate release of Pastor Andrew.

It's house arrest. When he's back in the U.S., I'll bake a cake. Here's what his denomination says:

Turkish media is reporting that Andrew Brunson has been moved from prison and put under house arrest. According to the Daily Sabah, the EPC Teaching Elder has been moved to his home in Izmir due to “health issues.”

The Second High Penal Court in Izmir issued the ruling on July 25, which also included an international travel ban meaning Brunson cannot leave the country. The same court ruled on July 18 that Brunson be returned to prison until the hearing in the trial, scheduled for October 12.

“We are very thankful for this court ruling to allow Andrew to be detained at his house instead of behind bars, where he has spent more than 21 months,” said Jeff Jeremiah, EPC Stated Clerk. “At the same time, this trial is not over. He is still facing serious charges so we press on in praying, fasting, and advocating for Andrew.”

Brunson has lived in Turkey since 1993 and was arrested in October 2016. He was indicted on charges of having links to Fethullah Gülen, the Turkish cleric who has lived in Pennsylvania since 1999 and whom Ankara blames for the failed 2016 coup attempt, and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which Turkey calls a terrorist group.

It's a step forward...but someone needs to change the title of their thread to a more accurate portrayal of events.

I altered it slightly (it is the title of the article).  I removed the "Hallelujah!" and added this is step one.

The new title will show on posts after this.
