For the past several years, Jimmie Williams III has been mistaken for another man with a lengthy criminal record.

Not only does he share the same name as criminal Jimmie Antonio Williams Jr., they both have the same birthday, too.

Last Friday, Williams III was arrested once again at his Victorville home after a San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputy mistook him for the other man with a warrant out for his arrest.

He has also been arrested in 2006 and 2009 based on the mistaken identity.....

He argued with the cop when he was being arrested, so even though he was innocent of the charges and not the person they were looking for, they went ahead and slapped a felony obstruction and resisting charge on him and he had to post a $2500 bond and now has a criminal record, all for being innocent.

..and he lost his job.

This is BS. There's just so much that anyone should have to put up with.

I'm thinking the chief of police and sheriff should each give the guy a notarized letter on official stationary that explains that this is not the same guy for him to carry in his wallet.

That, or they should pitch in and pay for his fees to get a legal name change.
