KSA bans 8 practices deemed harmful to animals
Arab News

RIYADH: The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has banned a series of practices under new animal cruelty laws.

The ban is based on the GCC Animal Welfare Act endorsed by Saudi Arabia, and was approved in Royal Decree No. (M / 44).

It includes a list of restricted practices that are prohibited except for justified medical reasons.

Debarking, dehorning, chemical castration are among the items banned; but isn't making halal meat still worse than any of these? In my novice opinion, yes.

Dehorning of cattle is an accepted practice in the US.

Q.  Is dehorning necessary?

A.  Yes. Dehorning significantly decreases the risk of injury to farm workers, horses, dogs and other cattle. Dehorned animals are far easier to handle and transport, and command higher prices at auction than animals with horns.

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) recognizes that dehorning is a necessary management practice for human and animal safety.1 The vast majority of dairy and beef farmers dehorn their animals, or raise polled animals, which are born without horns.

Banned tail docking?  How silly. Working breeds have tails docked for a reason.
