A Facebook post documenting abuse that a Saltgrass Steak House server was subjected to on a receipt has been identified as fake as the company has determined the employee fabricated the story.

The Odessa waiter whose story about being called a terrorist by a customer spurred national attention last week now admits it was all a hoax.

The waiter, Khalil Cavil, 20, admitted he wrote the racist note himself in a Monday interview with the Odessa American, where he apologized to a reporter “because I did lie to you.”

“I did write it,” Cavil said, refusing to explain why. “I don’t have an explanation. I made a mistake. There is no excuse for what I did.”

Terry Turney, COO of Saltgrass, issued this: “After further investigation, we have learned that our employee fabricated the entire story. The customer has been contacted and invited back to our restaurant to dine on us. Racism of any form is intolerable, and we will always act swiftly should it occur in any of our establishments. Falsely accusing someone of racism is equaling disturbing.”

OTOH, the best addition to the SG menu is their kale and spinach salad. lol

The Texas restaurant company which banned a customer after an employee’s story of a receipt scrawled with a racial epithet went viral said that it had parted ways with the employee and learned that the story was made up.

“We have learned that our employee fabricated the entire story,” Terry Turney, the chief operating officer of Saltgrass steakhouses, said in a statement. “Racism of any form is intolerable, and we will always act swiftly should it occur in any of our establishments. Mr Cavil, who is of mixed black and white parentage, said that he received the note from one of his tables, and that it left him “sick to my stomach”.

What should make him sick to his stomach is his blatant dishonesty. 

“I share this because I want people to understand that this racism, and this hatred still exists,” he wrote. “Although, this is nothing new, it is still something that will test your faith.”

Yeah, and I can just guess what that "faith" is.  (taqiya, anyone?)

Since about about 90 percent of these type receipt things turn out to be lies I would think more people would dismiss them.  But then it is facebook and social media.  The no life crowd must represent.

I'm still trying to figure how allegedly calling someone a terrorist would have equated to racism.
Now that we know it was a hoax, I guess we don't have to consider that weighty question anymore.

A waiter at a Texas steakhouse made national news when he said a customer left a racist note on his receipt, but the truth has since come out and it’s drastically different from what the waiter claimed.

Here’s what happened
