A. Sutherland - AncientPages.com - Celtiberia, located in the north-central highland region of the Iberian Peninsula, was occupied from the 3 BC onward by tribes thought to be of mixed Iberian and Celtic stock.

The name ‘Celtiberi’ is Roman and the Iberian Peninsula was called by Roman – Hispania. The Celtiberians evolved from a tribal to a city-based culture but it is difficult to estimate the degree of Celtic ancestry among them and other tribes that occupied the Iberian Peninsula.
