Although I seldom agree with Oceander, I -do- concur with his assessment above.

If all we get from Senator Cindy McCain is the "yes vote" that confirms Mr. Trump's upcoming Supreme Court nominee, that will be "enough" for me.

Let her fill an otherwise-empty seat for a while.
Perhaps we'll get a few more useful votes out of her.

That's much more than can be said about what we're getting from "McCain's seat" RIGHT NOW.

Do we have any reason to believe that Cindy will vote to confirm Trump's nominee???

So what changed?  Three months ago, Cindy McCain said he had no intention of resigning.

I wonder how long it's been since John actually spoke to Cindy?

Not a peep from McCain on this 4th of July. Guess this was another Fake News story. Too bad, we
need that vote.

Looks like it is a rat thing to do.

Well, that explains why McCain would want to do it.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

I don't want it badly enough to have one of my Senators be the pill-popping Beer Baroness.  I'd rather have the semi-stiff current occupant, at least we know how he's going to vote.  A "No Vote" equals a "No" vote.  McCain loved playing the "Will he or won't he?" game to wring maximum goodies from the "leadership."

Definitely not.  If anything McCain would tell her how he wants her to vote and you know damn well, he and she will vote against Trump.  The McCains could care less how they vote as long as it's against Trump.  What does Johnny have to lose?  Nothing.  He's on his way out of life and won't be seeking re-election anyways.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

@libertybele   That's what I thought but I got the impression from some earlier posts that there was reason to believe Cindy would support the nomination and I was like 'whaaaaat?'

That idea is premised on a "deal":  McCain the Stiff resigns with a promise from Doug Ducey to appoint his pill-popping beer baroness wife as his replacement, and she promises to support Trump (in more than the SCOTUS nomination).  Ducey will honor his part, at great risk to his own political prospects, and the McCains will do like he did for the Obastardcare repeal:  renege.

If Ducey does this now, it's likely he won't wind the Primary Election in August, and if he does, there's an even better chance he will lose in the General in November.  If the AZGOP had guts (they don't), and if he's Governor six months after the election, he'll be facing both a recall and Impeachment.

I don't believe he sent that or any other tweets for the last 6-9 months.

Cindy will do whatever John has told her he wants .... she'll do this with even more passion after he's dead.

McCain may be waiting to retire until after the Arizona primary for Governor on August 28.  Appointing Cindy now would hurt Ducey's chances.  In fact, the Governor hasn't debated Ken Bennett, and despite the reasons he gives, it's because Ducey doesn't want to address the McCain Senate seat issue.  Bennett's been pledging not appoint Cindy McCain.

I just can't figure out what's in it for Ducey to appoint McCain's wife.

I didn't know much about Ducey but I looked him up because of this appointment controversy. What I read about him doesn't lead me to believe he would appoint Cindy.  It would be a crazy move, especially with an election coming up.

I get a big kick, out of the Internet #NeverMcCain conservative "commentariat"

One this site's most prolific members (Arizona resident) , with absolute assurance, claimed John McCain would lose a primary. She proved to be dead wrong,

She's long gone, and John's not dead yet.

Researched him four years ago when he was first running for Governor.  Successful CEO of Cold Stone Creamery.  They custom blend hard-serve ice cream with various other sweets on a big chilled marble slab in front of the customer.  I've been there, really good.  As Governor he seems to be doing a pretty decent job, but doing this act will hurt him greatly with Republicans, although the Dems would like it.  McStain has a lot of Dem support because of his frequent backstabbing of conservatives.

Yeah, that was certainly not THIS Arizona resident.  I knew Chemtrail Kelli could never beat McStain.  She's not going to beat Democrat Kyrsten Sinema, if she gets past Martha McSally.

Yeah, that was certainly not THIS Arizona resident.

I know that. But the episode proved that the loudest, most self-certain voices on the Net, may not be worth listening too.

I agree with that assessment....

So, "at the end of the day" lol, which is a phrase I never say. But seriously, it is the 'end of the day' and McCain did not resign. Typical McCain tactic. It was a sucker play designed to get everyone all worked up, just so he can say "No!" at the last minute.

He seems to be pathological with this kind of stunt. He does it all the time. It gives him some kind of sick pleasure. Thank God Trump didn't fall for it. Suckering Trump may have been the whole goal of this latest McCain farce.

Technically @240B the longer they wait to announce his departure 8 weeks ago the more Survivor benefits Cindy and Meghan receive.
It's not even 6PM in Arizona yet.   /JS
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think Cindy McCain is worried about getting more money. There is much more in play than just that. Significant political announcements hardly ever happen after 5PM. And it is now 5PM in AZ.

Looks like smobserved.com is a crappy source of news but a hilarious source of 3 pages of GOP regret about the 2008 Republican nominee for President.  I hope you all saved some bile for when McCain really quits.
