When I was working as a full-time reporter in a small (pop. 25,000) city, I often thought about the possibility that someone who didn't like something we published might come into the newsroom and open fire (especially as we had one reporter who wasn't particularly circumspect in the way she described some people in her crime stories). Anyone could have just entered the building, ridden the elevator to the second floor and come in with guns a-blazing.

Our publisher at one point circulated office rules which included no guns on premises. Hell with that, I thought, and I kept my handgun with me in the office at all times thereafter.

We have banned guns from anywhere on campus. Rather ironic considering we had the worst mass shooting on a college campus ever.

One office I worked for had rules along the lines of "No unauthorized weapons".  I figured since the State authorized me to conceal carry I was good.

The media was at the forefront of this Trump blame.  A Reuters guy named Rob Cox was so vicious he's been issuing apology after apology.

Also sad is that I saw the exact same attitude on this thread.  It turned out to be exactly what I expected: nut case.

The thing was the guy's feud with the paper started about six years ago and he had threatened mayhem on social media.

I know we can't do Minority Report, but with the threats he posted, I think he should have been under closer surveillance. 

Since Obama was President when this guy's vendetta started, it is really strange that no one is blaming him.

True, but unfortunately, it also seems decisions made by the paper contributed to the eventual confrontation.


He so routinely sent profanity-laced tweets about the paper and its writers that retired publisher Tom Marquardt said he called police in 2013, telling his wife at the time, "This guy could really hurt us."

The police chief said the newspaper didn't press charges at the time because "there was a fear that doing so would exacerbate an already flammable situation."

Since blame is being assigned everywhere, we should include the usual suspects, like Dana Loesch and the NRA.  The left has dug up a nearly 2 year old clip where 'curb stomped' supposedly has something to do with it, now.
