An image of a farting unicorn is causing a stink between a Colorado artist and Elon Musk.

Tom Edwards created the whimsical image of a unicorn powering an electric car with its own gas in 2010, and put it on ceramic mugs that he sells. “Electric cars are good for the environment because electricity comes from magic,” the mugs say.

The artist is absolutely right in this case. Tesla should not have sold products with the image of his artwork. Some friends recently recovered $60,000 from a phone case company out of Australia who used one of their photos on their packaging. And they were kind as they probably could have gone for a lot more.

However, is the meme actually pro-electric car?  Electric cars being good for the environment may well be on the same level of reality as fairy-dust farting unicorns.  Certainly the reasoning of their supporters is summed up in the motto that was on the mugs, and that's not a pro-electric car sentiment.

Any creation from the moment it is created, is considered as copyright to the creator. If it can be registered is another story, in this case it probably can as I've see far worse registered.
