This one opinion from Pryor caught my eye:

Common Cause/Georgia v. Billups (11th Cir. 2009). Pryor wrote for a unanimous panel upholding a Georgia law that required all registered voters in Georgia to present a government-issued photo identification to be allowed to vote in person. The law also required Georgia to issue, free of charge, a "Georgia voter identification card" to any registered Georgia voter who lacked an acceptable form of identification. The panel concluded that the NAACP and voters had standing to challenge the law, but that the district court did not abuse its discretion when it declined to enjoin the law because the burdens on voters from the law were insignificant and the state had legitimate interests in preventing voter fraud

You know at some point the whole voter ID thing is gonna be up before the SCOTUS someone with that view of it that has written decisions on Voter  ID could be very important to have on the bench.

Much is going to depend on the politics between now and November and the nominee of course.

The unions and traditional Dim constituencies are going to be super motivated to get their voters out. The turtle can talk about a fall vote but if the polling numbers in October are disastrous for the GOP you can bet the individual Senators are going to do what ever is necessary to preserve their cushy job and as always the Country be dammed.

I'm late to the discussion.  Anybody think the President will go out of his way to get a "centrist" Justice, to "maintain balance" on the Court?  I'm sure McConnell is pushing for that.  Maybe a nice liberal female.

My brother and I discussed it and he thinks it may be a female from the list.

Some good ones on there.  I like Allison Eid -- the lefties absolutely despise her.  And she's only 53.

Nice bonus is that nominating a female right before the midterms is a good politics, too.  But bottom line...she's a great judge.  And really, that's a great list.

Just some random thoughts...

Where do we stand in the Senate on this?

The best that can be hoped for is 50 votes with Mike Pence breaking the tie.

Flake, in his last parting shot, will vote "no" for any conservative nominee, perhaps any nominee at all (just to spite Mr. Trump).

Collins of Maine is doubtful, not to be trusted nor relied upon. But "possible".

Murkowski -- will have to be wooed. Give her something to buy her vote. The end [almost] justifies the means here. She can be bought. If that's what it takes, it's what it takes.

McCain -- absolutely a no vote, but with a bit of luck, he'll be dead before the final vote and a new senator will have been installed in his place.

McConnell -- will he do what has to be done, including overriding or ending a filibuster? That's the $64,000 question.

And stay the course, Mr. Trump --- pick someone TO THE RIGHT of Gorsuch.
Shove this down the throats of the democrat-communists!

I'm not interested in who will be "conservative" or "center" or "liberal." I'm interested in who will construe the Constitution properly, it being so---and too often forgotten, on all sides of the ideological divide---that construing the Constitution properly will not always mean that the result will be to one or another mob's liking.
