McCaskill suffers cracked rib after Manchin performs Heimlich maneuver on her

Sen. Joe Manchin accidentally cracked fellow Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill’s rib while performing the Heimlich maneuver at a caucus luncheon, the Missouri senator revealed over the weekend – as she kept up her campaign schedule despite the colleague-inflicted injury.

A spokesman for West Virginia Sen. Manchin told The Washington Post that Missouri Sen. McCaskill began choking during a luncheon for Senate Democrats on Thursday.

Manchin intervened to save her.

But, according to the Post, McCaskill revealed to constituents over the weekend that Manchin injured her rib in the process.

Yep, found it going through some old things from my parents' house.  That's me at age 4 in Roosevelt Roads.  My uncle on my mother's side used to call me Dennis The Menace.

By the way, if you crack ribs you’re doing the Heimlich correctly. Clair needs to literally shut her pie hole.

I've had to do it to people twice.  The first time, it was a very large man who fell on top of me and almost broke my ribs.  I was 15 and a busboy at a restaurant in town.  It was a very scary experience.  The guy was literally turning purple.

Contract the muscles in your midsection while forcing a cough. I did that when I was maybe just four years old.

Honestly, it probably had more to do with him hitting the floor.  I could barely get my arms around him, but everyone else was just staring at him, slack-jawed.
