Teens kept at Virginia center say they were cuffed, beaten

WASHINGTON (AP) — Immigrant children as young as 14 housed at a juvenile detention center in Virginia say they were beaten while handcuffed and locked up for long periods in solitary confinement, left nude and shivering in concrete cells.

The abuse claims against the Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Center near Staunton, Virginia, are detailed in federal court filings that include a half-dozen sworn statements from Latino teens jailed there for months or years. Multiple detainees say the guards stripped them of their clothes and strapped them to chairs with bags placed over their heads.

Even if they were gang members, is this level of maltreatment (if true) acceptable?

But, but if we had elected another Republican as President, none of this would have happened.


The dems and the media, wouldn't have noticed the kids wrapped in tinfoil.

So the blame goes on Trump's supporters, who elected him, and expected follow thru on election commitments to deal seriously with illegal immigration and border security.

People desiring entry into the US can depend on both parties.

1. Reagan 1986-essentially the Amnesty that gave hope, for more amnesties.

2. GW Bush, Mc Cain and others. Dems, and too many Republicans.

Accept it or not, Trump is the first and only candidate running on serious opposition to continuing illegal immigration.

Sure and he's all for merit based applications and ending chain migration, now that 73 and 71 year old retired in-laws Viktor and Amalija Knavs got in under the wire.

Well, to be fair, they're initially described as 'latino teen's in the story.  The article goes on to say:

Many of the children were sent there after U.S. immigration authorities accused them of belonging to violent gangs, including MS-13.

We may very well find out these 'kids' are inked up monsters who will lie at the drop of a hat.

I covered the MD/DC/NOVA territory when this group was starting to take root in the area.  They're truly awful people.

Exactly, @musiclady.  And, it sort of sounds like the kind of things angry teens might make up, and then there's the timing and the fact that so many of these kind of accusations have proven to be false.  I hope I am right.
