I have heard both thoughtful liberals and conservatives touting the idea of a guaranteed minimum income as a remedial measure for technology-driven wealth inequality. What say you, @Suppressed ?
@Jazzhead Despite initial gut-feels that I'd be against it, I must admit that it's looking more and more like that's the appropriate solution for America's future, if we're realistic.
It opens up a question, though. Our republic is founded to protect natural rights, but are there natural responsibilities, too? Are we our brother's keeper, if we're not Judeo-Christian? That is, does the state have a natural mandate to mandate responsibility?
I don't know. I'm eager to hear others' thoughts, as I formulate my own opinion.
