House proposal makes DACA permanent and grants citizenship to illegals

DIARY / stridentconservative //  Posted at 9:15 am on June 15, 2018 by stridentconservative

When Donald Trump issued an executive order in Sept. 2017 rescinding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) order issued by Barack Obama, he was cheered by his adoring fans for appearing to keep one of his campaign promises regarding the illegal immigration problem. However, as the old saying goes, appearances can be deceiving.

The reason I call it deceiving is because Trump’s order was merely a technicality—sort of a Rescind-In-Name-Only moment—used to buy the time necessary to make DACA permanent, which has been his “big heart” goal from the beginning.

Call your reps and leave a message.  I know a lot of you scoff at the idea of trying to communicate with and influence the actions of them, but it can work, and we should at least try.

Well.... there goes Trump's base.... if he signs on to this.   He has to know that.  Right???

I'm in Texas.  My guys aren't going to be for this anyway.  Let's hope this is just more leftist spin.

An article I read a couple days ago described a bill that was quite different, making a number of positive steps, though still too lenient on the DACA end for my taste.  I may or may not agree, but I could understand some accepting the bill to be a worthwhile compromise (at least, as long as it's not another 'give us what we want now and we'll promise to talk about the rest later' fiasco).

This article focuses 100% on the negatives.

If my rep wasn't somewhere to the left of the Bern, I'd spend a little time looking into the details before contacting her based on one article/headline.

You do have to use caution before knee-jerk reacting to anything coming from the lamestream media these days.  Again, let's hope it's just their special negative spin to discourage anyone on the right.... which is what they live for.

It'd almost be worth normalizing 180k DACA "children" if they also end chain migration and the bogus asylum program & restore the general immigration system to a merit based one.

It might be.  However,

1) They're talking even more than the 700-800K involved (anyone who didn't sign up before can now).

2) It'd be a LOT easier for a future congress/admin to walk back the changes to chain migration and the like (which are included in the bill, AFAIK) than it would be to walk back any benefits to the "dreamers".

3)  It's the precedent that really bothers me.  If it's "cruel" not to allow this batch to stay, the same argument can be used for EVERY batch that parents sneak over the border (and they will, wall or not).

My idiot Dem congressman probably thinks this is swell.  Actually, he will probably vote whichever way the party leadership tells him to.  This guy hasn't thought for himself in years.

One of my Senators is McCain, so that's a "No" vote because he's a "No Vote" clinging to power.  The other is Flake, who can't wait to throw open the border, and my Rep is a Socialist Dem who is vying for Flake's seat.  Might as well be talking to the wind.  The wind does not answer.
