Billionaire Koch brothers take on Trump over tariffs

Powerful US billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch are funding a multi-million dollar campaign against President Donald Trump's trade tariffs.

Three political groups backed by the brothers say they will use advertising, lobbying and grassroots campaigns to push the benefits of free trade.

The duo run Koch Industries, one of the world's largest privately owned firms.

I thought news this morning is that one of the Koch brothers is withdrawing from politics. We will see where this goes.

Yeah, because it isn't like the Kochs are teamed up with Tom Steyer on an open borders campaign......

Good.  Anyone with a modicum of economics knowledge knows tariffs and the inevitable trade war aren't in our best interests.

Yer too funny.  Trump sides with rats on union protecting tariffs, deficit busting budgets, gun confiscation first-rule of law later, and full funding of Planned Parenthood...you call him God.  It's hard for me to get worked up when rats team up with someone else.

Jealous much?

So you wanted a government shutdown over funding Planned Parenthood. Yes?

Even though, the Senate would likely not give in ever. Let alone conveniently forgetting Trump said he would have signed the budget defunding Planned Parenthood that passed the House. The Senate would not do the same let alone, every president seemingly has funded PP since it became a political issue.

Also, I think it was pointed out, Reagan used tarifs;

Just scattershot, hoping one of your points takes hold.

I understand Trump is ineffectual and powerless to stop tax dollars from going to PP.  I just wish his sycophants would stop yanking my chain proclaiming how divine he is.

Why not?  People talk about a government shutdown like it's a bad thing but it does tend to get sides talking and it gets things done in the long run.

Not to mention it would have shown he was serious about being anti-abortion instead of just paying lip service to it.  And it would have rallied religious conservatives to his side.

He did it one time...on Japanese tech firms that were dumping memory for computers into the U.S. market.

And his tariffs on the computer companies in Japan actually had the opposite effect of what's going on now.

You're playing fast and loose with facts hoping people won't remember the truth.

The media has portrayed these brothers as arch-conservative, puppet master, money men. They are not that conservative and I blame their influence for much of the current mediocrity in the GOP.  I don’t wish the man personal ill will, but I will be sorry to see them go.
