What "nasty things" have been said about Christians?   The issue where harsh words may have been spoken is political, not moral.   The moral fight to make sure every child is born and nutured is noble and ennobling to those who fight it.    Christian values are at the epicenter of that fight.

The problem is so many conceived lives are unwanted.   Persuasion and, as RIV says, real support, are the means by which Christians will prevail, one life at a time.   Those liberals you are so fond of condemning aren't oblivious to the problem, either - their emphasis, though, tends to be on contraceptive planning.    Birth control prevents abortions.   Family planning prevents abortions. Support for adoption prevents abortions.  Support for abstinence until marriage prevents abortions.    Financial help to mothers abandoned by their partners prevents abortions.

There are myriad ways to advance Christian values and improve prospects for children.   Where I stand apart from you, @TomSea,  it not with respect to any of that.   It is only with respect to the coercive hand of government.  A woman must have the liberty to choose her destiny.

And, a child must be born in order to have a chance to choose his or her destiny.   22222frying pan

Yes, but the woman (and her partner) must decide.  Not the government.

Guess what?  The time to decide is before you create another human being.

  • Didn't vote for McCain Dole Romney Trump !
The government cannot and will not favor one religion over another.    The goverment's job is to stay as far away from religion as possible.

I have no idea what Ireland' government consists of... But America's government was set upon not favoring one sect of Christianity over another. It was NOT to stay as far away from religion as possible. Quit implying separation of church and state, it isn't there. It was to not make laws that favored one sect over another.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Says who? The ACLU? The govt interferes with every aspect of health care and your body, but someone abortion is sacred?

We are not a theocracy, we don't have sacrements in this country. Supposedly, according to the liberals, we have science.
The Republic is lost.
