Reuters tracking poll: GOP now in the lead in our congressional ballot tracking poll

Ed MorrisseyPosted at 5:31 pm on May 22, 2018

For the first time in at least two years, a major pollster has Democrats trailing in the midterms — at least for a day. When last we looked at the Reuters tracking poll, Democrats’ lead in the generic congressional ballot question had dwindled down to a single point. Yesterday, their five-day rolling average finally crossed the red Rubicon, as this graphic from polling editor Chris Kahn demonstrates, following up with another look at the same data today:

This news will not please Mitch. He was hoping the voters would bail him out in November.

For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16

Gee.

Let's recall how they got here.

In 2008, the Democrats took full power and pushed far-left, drove the deficit into levels not seen since FDR, tried to make it a crime not to buy health insurance, and was openly musing about using gerrymandering to hijack Congress and establish one-party rule for at least the next decade.

In 2010, they lost big, and Republicans got to dictate the legislature lines.

Now, in 2018, their platform for taking back the House of Representatives is to claim that they were robbed of their Presidency by the Russians, and that Hillary "won the popular vote" (even though no one polled a majority). The same advantages that led to Trump winning the Electoral College also give the advantage to the GOP congress. Thus, the more they can scream their visceral hatred of Trump, the more the Republican-leaning districts, many of whom voted for Trump, are going to resist that.

So please, Democrats, keep screaming about how all those Trump voters are deplorable.

All the Democrats are really offering voters is a chance to drag the country into two more years of trying to undo the last Presidential election.  By opposing the tax cuts, border security, and kvetching about the first positive signs about North Korea in decades, they appear (and are) completely unwilling to work with Trump even on stuff that has support from most Americans.  It is a completely toxic atmosphere, and their selling point is more of the same.

No wonder their brand appears to be hurting.

When you hitch your party's wagon the the illegal immigrant train to pull you to an election win, you might be a democrat.

You're right.  The polling on that issue has never matched what the left has tried to push as the "national consensus."  And they've got a huge problem -- their activist base is so extreme on that issue that any candidate who doesn't take an extreme pro-illegal stance risks getting zotted by their base.  But that is way to the left of where most voters are.

No matter how much you might differ from the GOP, the Dems are the party of SJW's, perverts, nuts, fruits and bearded ladies.

The GOP's loss won't be the Democrat's gain IMO.
