Meet Amber Ruffin, an unrepentant anti-white bigot and racist who recently beseeched “pasty ass” white people get “back on the Mayflower and go home.”

She issued the outrageous demand while ranting on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” last week about the alleged bigotry and racism in the latest episode of comedian Roseanne Barr’s sitcom, “Roseanne.”

So I've seen the Amber rant, and I read this woman's article.  To be fair, I thought her point about the Roseanne episode was a bit of a stretch.  But the Mayflower comment was in response to a woman calling cops on Native American kids taking a college tour.  That instance was absolutely ridiculous, and Amber was pointing out the irony of saying American Indians don't belong here.

The author then goes on to compare that situation to cops being called on a dad traveling with his teenage daughter.  Yes, there are jerks and idiots everywhere, and almost everyone will meet up with them at some point.  But at least child trafficking is an actual issue receiving attention; since when is being brown on a college campus immediately suspicious?

In any case, Amber is a comedian who specializes in being outrageous, much like Roseanne Barr.

Ok, here is a report about the American Indian boys who saved up their gas money and drove 7 hours from New Mexico to attend a college tour at CSU.  They joined the group a bit late, and a mom on the tour thought they were weird.  Instead of talking to the tour guide or just acting like an adult, she called the cops.  By the time the police were done talking to them, they had missed the rest of the tour.  It's pathetic.  This is the basis for the ironic Mayflower remark.  And I really can't blame the comedian for being disgusted.

I get your point, @skeeter.  But if you watch Roseanne Barr's standup, you'll find her humor similarly political and abrasive and obviously more obscene because it's not on network tv.

I probably should use the word "bigot" for Roseanne, since she deals with gender and homosexuality and well as race/ethnicity, and her prejudices morph over time.  In addition, she has long discussed her struggles with mental illness and can be kind of unhinged.  P.S., I really like Roseanne -- she's a comic genius.

The fact that Roseanne may be a bigot may justify a rude joke at her expense.  It does not remotely justify, excuse, or mitigate a "joke" about "pasty white asses".
