I agree that this is not good news.  She isn't my queen, but she does represent a symbol of stability and continuity in the crazy day and age, and that is valuable to all of us.  I hope that it is just mobility issues, and not worse (although, at her age, lack of mobility can be fatal).

Queen says she was ‘tired and exhausted’ during bout of Covid

Her Majesty, 95, contracted COVID-19 in February, and experienced “mild cold-like symptoms”, according to Buckingham Palace. In a statement, the Palace said the Queen planned to continue with “light duties” from Windsor Castle.

They added: "She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines.”

The Queen tested positive for the virus two days after her son, Prince Charles, revealed he had also contracted the disease.

He had met with his mother on February 8, before testing positive two days later.

A number of people within the Royal household at Windsor contracted Covid at the same time.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex met the Queen at Windsor Castle yesterday for the first time since they stepped down as senior members of the royal family in 2020.

The couple arrived yesterday morning, according to reports, and are believed to have used Frogmore Cottage, the home used by Princess Eugenie and her family, as a base.

It is understood that they attended the Maundy Thursday service, which the Queen missed for the first time since 1970, because of mobility issues, prompting the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall to step in.

A spokesman for Harry and Meghan confirmed their visit and said that they had stopped off in the UK on their way to The Hague in the Netherlands to attend the Invictus games. They visited the Queen’s official residence for a meeting with the 95-year-old monarch and Prince Charles, who was there with the Duchess of Cornwall. ...

Harry and Meghan have been accused of 'exploiting the Queen for Netflix' and making their top-secret trip for 'clear the air talks' with the elderly monarch and Prince Charles at Windsor to please American producers of their upcoming documentary.

A royal expert has claimed that the duke and duchess, who have not been in the UK together since they acrimoniously quit as senior working royals more than two years ago, made the secret visit 'all for their Netflix documentary'.

Speaking to MailOnline, Meghan's acid-penned biographer Tom Bower sensationally branded the Sussexes 'the Royal Family's worst traducers' and accused the couple of 'exploiting an old, unwell woman to boost their credibility and coffers'.

Meanwhile, royal correspondent Robert Jobson said that it was 'significant' that William and Kate were not involved in the meeting. The brothers' relationship has been at rock bottom since Harry pressed the nuclear button on his royal life. 

Netflix is expected to send a camera crew to follow Harry and Meghan when they meet the Ukraine team at the Invictus Games for injured military veterans in The Netherlands for their documentary about the Paralympic-style games.

Only the weather was the same. A bright sun shone from a blue sky just as it did on that May morning almost four years ago when Prince Harry took his new bride home through cheering crowds to Windsor Castle in a horse drawn carriage. Everything else had changed.

This time, husband and wife retreated behind the blacked-out windows of a people carrier for the short drive from their former home, Frogmore Cottage, to the castle.

And instead of thousands of well-wishers lining the route there was a rather modest turn out of spectators gathering for the spectacle of the Maundy Thursday service at St George’s chapel.

Queen celebrates 96th birthday in Sandringham

The Queen is celebrating her 96th birthday on Thursday in Sandringham.

Britain's longest-reigning monarch travelled by helicopter to her Norfolk estate, where she is being joined by family and friends.

She is thought to be staying in a cottage particularly liked by her late husband, Prince Philip.

A photograph has been released to mark the birthday, showing the Queen with two ponies and reflecting her lifelong interest in horses.

The picture was taken at Windsor Castle, where the Queen now mostly stays, and shows her with two Fell ponies, who will appear in the forthcoming Royal Windsor Horse Show.
