Kellyanne Conway: Expect WH 'Personnel Changes' After Anti-McCain Leak
by Fox News Insider

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said there will likely be changes at the White House after an aide made a disparaging comment about ailing Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).

During a private discussion about CIA nominee Gina Haspel, aide Kelly Riddell Sadler said not to be concerned about McCain's possible 'nay' vote because "he's dying anyway."

The conversation was leaked to the press, and Sadler received a barrage of criticism for the remark, including from McCain's wife, Cindy.

This “comment” was in the context of regular background discussions regarding votes, the kind of normal political strategizing that goes on in Washington back offices all the time. It leaked out and so the usual suspects demand apologies.

Yet, democrats including senator Al Franken and other comedians and columnists have written and said a lot worse about John McCain publicly, in open sources. Where were the demands for apologies then?

This is phony outrage drummed up simply because it could be tied to President Trump. It’s just more fake news that smart people have learned to ignore. In other words, a big nothing.

The so-called leaks coming out of the White House are a massive over  exaggeration put out by the Fake News Media in order to make us look as bad as possible. With that being said, leakers are traitors and cowards, and we will find out who they are!

Agreed, but the leaking is a real problem.  They absolutely need to get a handle on that.

The purple faced outrage in the media over a leaked comment from a confidential meeting was palpable.

Do those people know how completely transparent they are?

That comment has been described as mocking and as joking when it could been matter of fact.

There must be some interesting conversations in the Conway household.

This shows real commitment to leaking.

UPDATE: One of the leakers reached out with an additional quote which we’re adding to the story — “To cover my tracks, I usually pay attention to other staffers’ idioms and use that in my background quotes. That throws the scent off."

LOL. Whoever this leaker turns out to be, they are finished. No one will touch them with a ten foot poll.

As it should be.   But I suspect the leftist Dims will embrace and take them into their tent.  Their already tent stinks, btw.

I think anyone who breaks the law by leaking classified information should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.  As for those who leak unclassified information, if it doesn’t break the law, they are simply a fact of life in DC IMO. Having said that, of course, political appointees serve at the pleasure of the President so he can fire whomever he wants – leakers, suspected leakers, those who aren’t big enough sycophants, anyone.  Particularly in a White House like this one which seems to pit folks against each other, I just think unclassified leaks aren’t going to be eliminated.
I adore facts and data and abhor lies and liars.

Of course.  Information is currency in those circles.  Administrations going way back 'leak' things off the record to put their ideas forward, float policy trial balloons, or control news cycles.  It's ridiculous they're surprised or upset about it.

I'm expecting WH personnel changes regardless of any leak.  It's Tuesday after all.

@aligncare   I agree, and I don't think Kellyanne or Trump should be rolling any heads over this.

People need to stop apologizing for fake and imagined wrongs.

How does anyone know whether it was said? We need to learn from the Democrats. Deny, deny, deny.

The leakers should be exposed and removed.

I agree ... if it can be done quietly and efficiently.  We don't need to give the press more ammo by an internal witch hunt.

I think the person who said it admitted to doing so.

Well, really, it was simply a practical statement about the danger of a McCain vote.  He IS dying ... unless he is one of the Walking Dead.

It depends.  When the government betrays public trust, there are some things we really should know.  For instance, the Pentagon Papers uncovered the Johnson admin lies about Vietnam.  The prosecution of Jeffery Sterling alerted us to how Iran developed their nuclear weapons plans.  Leaks exposed Fast and Furious.  Most recently, leaks have brought the FISA process under scrutiny.

Yes, but those leaks were about substantive issues.  Simply leaking inter-office strategy chats about nothing simply to make people sound heartless and insensitive is not worth going to the mat over.  Maybe a simple, 'watch your mouth' would work.

This appears to be merely malicious.  Not the same thing at all.

True, but I'm speaking about leaks, in general.  This particular instance is no big deal.  Was it insensitive?  Yes, but Sadler made her overture to the family.  She doesn't need to apologize publicly, IMO.  If anything, she'll learn there's a lot of duplicitous people around her and stay focused on the work.  This kind of inter-departmental nonsense is why I'm a field employee.

I will agree that it "depends" but this is the White House staff. People should be able to speak freely there. No excuses here.

Agree. This "leak" was pure mickey mouse politics, not the Pentagon Papers.
