The three American hostages freed from North Korea were reunited with their families over the weekend after being welcomed back into the U.S. by President Trump early Thursday morning.
After receiving physical examinations, Kim Dong Chul, Kim Hak Song, and Tony Kim were released from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Pentagon spokeswoman Maj. Carla Gleason said on Sunday, Fox News reported.
“The returnees have left Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. All three were grateful, in good spirits and coping well,†Gleason said in the statement. “The returnees have been reunited with their families. Their time together has been an incredibly joyous occasion.â€
All three former hostages asked for privacy for themselves and their families as they adapt back to normalcy.
Trump and first lady Melania Trump welcomed back the three men at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland at around 3 a.m., after making the trek back to the U.S. from North Korea.
