Ted Cruz warns of Russia's growing involvement in Nicaragua

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz said Russian involvement in Nicaragua is a "serious red flag" that the U.S. should be increasingly worried about.

"An expanded footprint of external influence in the region poses a direct threat to American national security interests," the Republican said during a speech Thursday to the Heritage Foundation about the growing instability in Nicaragua.

Cruz said Russia and Nicaragua have struck a deal to increase military and intelligence cooperation.

"Because what could possibly go wrong with having Russian tanks in the Americas?" Cruz asked sarcastically.......
