@EasyAce

That's a pretty amazing reverb plug (the Valhalla Shimmer) in for just $50, if you do the computer recording thing.

Certainly not for every type of music but I'm sold on it, for here and there.

Check out what this woman does to just one flute with it.

Some songs like "You were always on my mind" was always pretty pop but these others, he nailed.

Another band that came to our town was I gather, a not very well known band called Baby. I'm the only one in this forum that has probably heard of them though they did make one Southern rock blog I read. I'm not sure they had success, limited I think. Pretty good I think actually.

Whether a band made it or not, is yes, down to talent but I think it's also down to a little luck.

Speaking of Brazil, they have a form of martial arts called "Capoeira" and it is taught in a number of studios in the US. It looks cool and... it's not just this kind of martial arts confrontations.  They say it is martial arts combined with dance... it looks very interesting.

As a former long-haired Hippie trash guitar player who once opened for Molly Hatchett....I can pretty much confirm for you that it’s 90% luck and 10% talent.

I'm a big fan of Luke but this is not rocket science, it's nuts and bolts, and you live with them trying to get Out of their little boxes, for decades.

And I don't say that to disparage Steve in any way. I can and have listened to him for hours on end.

Luck? Ask the ghost of Bon Scott. "It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll."

It's a real mixed bag, obviously there is some great talent out there. Some cream rises to the top but maybe not all.

@corbe

There's also a lot of temptations in places,  Like around '77, '78 in New Mexico, at the 7-elevens they'd keep the girly magazines behind the counter, there was some magazine that was basically just Texas women OR at least, that's kind of their promotional angle.  One Christmas edition, we saw it and Willy Nelson was on it  with a big grin, standing with some gal with her back to the camera just wearing a Santa top. Well, we were very young then but my friend and I didn't like it, we said, imagine Neil Young doing that, Neil in the '70s was mostly that real sedate, sometimes depressing music. I like a lot of his stuff but he is a lefty too.  Maybe some like a lot of Willie Nelson in the same way.

So, Neil Young, please take my advice, open up the tired eyes. A lot of that was a bad influence really. Yeah, he's holed up somewhere pretty rural now to have his same kinds of opinions.

All that said, Neil Young is kind of an a-hole and at times, I was probably one of his biggest fans, he trashed Trump saying something like "Oh, he needs to be stopped any way possible", not too mellow.  Now, Neil Young and Willie Nelson have done some work together, Neil and Willie's son too.

Springsteen, though he was against Trump at first, has now said he won't criticize him, must be a local thing.

   Though Willie denies it now, he campaigned for Abortion Barbie against Abbott, last time (he thinks were all non functional stoners).  He's OK I hear his music daily I'm just impressed he's still doing it, he looks older than Keith Richards.   Still listen to ol Neil quite often but I draw the line at Springsteen unless it's his first few albums ending at Nebraska.   @TomSea

My favorite Springsteen album is The River. Never get tired of that one. @corbe

   The River was quite an accomplishment for him, I have all his early stuff on Vinyl.
   Nebraska was much Darker and his Encore, IMHO.

Don’t know why, but to me “point blank” is his magnum opus” love the sax.

I use to dance with one of my cats to “Cadillac Ranch”
We changed the lyrics to “cat-allic” ranch. :)
