Sinclair Broadcast Group's corporate mandates are exacerbating tensions between the company's local stations and its management.

Journalists in local US markets are chafing at the company's requirements, including a new promotional campaign that echoes President Donald Trump's anti-media rhetoric.

The promos, first reported by CNNMoney last month, went viral over the weekend after Deadspin edited dozens of them together to show how anchors across the country were told to read the same script.

Not the best optics for Sinclair, but the irony of CNN reporting on fake news propaganda is rich, indeed.

Of course CNN would find fault. I see it as a media company simply making sure all of its stations are on the same page, not some big evil plan to "echo" Trump. What a joke. Only CNN could fail to see the irony of their whining about it.

CNN's problem is that Sinclair is considered "conservative" in its editorial stance. Nothing more than that.

It's bad optics now to say you are not going to fabricate news when media trust is at an all time low?

It gives the same impression as when the MSM all decided to say 'gravitas' during the Bush 43 years, whether you agree with the message, or not.

Have you ever seen the videos where anchors across the country read the same lame joke to lead into a national story? Do you know who writes those stories? CNN. So of all the companies to complain, the one that pre-writes jokes and headlines for their anchors is not the one that carries a lot of weight.

Sinclair is advertising, trying to get a leg up on its competitors. It's called an image campaign and it's been done for decades; yes, anchors are regularly involved in cutting the promos. There is literally nothing out of the ordinary here.

Spare us the indignation over Sinclair script. CNN's CEO Jeff Zucker instructed his network to abandon coverage of Climate Accords to "get back to Russia." If you really take issue with corporate edicts on the news (and you should,) lambaste CNN as much as you do Sinclair.

Sinclair criticizing biased, major network channels. Big deal.

Just doing what Limbo, Hannity, Levin and Fox sometimes have done all along.
