House votes to advance $1.3T omnibus
By Juliegrace Brufke - 03/22/18 10:54 AM EDT

The House has voted to advance a $1.3 trillion omnibus spending package, overcoming objections from conservative Republicans.

The rule governing debate on the measure was approved in a 211-207 vote, setting up a final vote on the bill later on Thursday. The Senate will also have to approve the package to send it to the White House.

The rule vote came with a lot of drama.

This sickening bill is more like a drunk getting another drink from the bar in order to sober up.

... "the expensive bill is bloated and that it does not do enough for GOP priorities such as building a wall on the Mexican border and blocking funding for Planned Parenthood."

That's all I needed to know.  Once again, the GOP has FAILED on building the wall.  Such a failure will cost them the majority this November.  Idiots and fools!

I fail to see any 'win' in this for President Trump, since it's surely could trigger many supporters to go wobbly on him.

Plus, he always negotiates where he ends up with a minimum "win-win" result.  Not seeing it at all, here.

Thirdly, we're going to be right back here in mid October, right before the mid-terms for another "Omni-BS" bill...handing the DEMS another issue for their 'whores' in the mainstream media to frame.

IMO, his thinking must be along the lines that the tax cuts and new injection of trillions back from overseas, will translate to more good jobs, and therefore, more than enough to pay for this six-month monster.

....that's if he's sincerely going to look me in the eye and justify it.   I could/would believe him.

This spending bill pretty much guarantees the Rats will take Congress in 2018. This bill breaks every
campaign promise made by Trump and the GOP. Trump better veto it, cause when the Rats take
congress he is certain to be impeached.

There is a ray of hope .... maybe it's time to send a copy of "Green Eggs and Ham" to Paul.

Senate conservatives fuming over $1.3 trillion funding bill
The Hill, Mar 22, 2018, Jordain Carney

Conservative senators are fuming over a mammoth government funding bill, raising questions about how soon the chamber will be able to vote on the measure.

The $1.3 trillion legislation passed the House early Thursday afternoon, sending it to the Senate less than 36 hours before funding is set to expire.

GOP leadership wants to pass the bill on Thursday, allowing lawmakers to leave as scheduled for a two-week recess.

But key hold outs are remaining mum on whether or not they'll allow for a quick vote.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), the senator viewed as most likely to force a brief partial closure, has yet to announce his plans despite constant peppering by reporters.

And here is where the rubber meets the road with the GOP.

This is what really matters if the country is going to have a future.

"Making jobs" is easy if you tax less and borrow more. It is smoke and mirrors providing an illusion of things being better. It doesn't matter how good the short term is if you destroy your future.

This is what the lesser of two evils gets you over a long period of time.

House approves government spending bill despite conservative revolt
Reuters, Mar 22, 2018, Richard Cowan

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday approved a $1.3 trillion spending bill to avert a government shutdown and fund federal agencies through Sept. 30, despite a revolt by fiscal conservatives worried about what they called runaway spending.

The Republican-led chamber backed the measure 256-167, sending it to the Senate ahead of a midnight Friday deadline. But 90 of the 238 House Republicans ignored pleas for support from House Speaker Paul Ryan and voted against it.

This is the question of the hour @Free Vulcan  The only reason I can come up with is in hopes that they get *something* right.

But Congressional fiscal courage died decades ago and it's been a rotting corpse in the middle of DC ever since.

I don't see him doing this @jpsb (hope I'm wrong)

The last two people the President hears from are McConnell and Ryan ... and this isn't good.

It's why my offer to donate one month's pay to see Kevin McCarthy Speaker of the House still stands.  HIS voice needs to be one of the final two.

I'm not sure there are enough in the Senate to defeat the bill .... never mind sustain a veto.

Agreed. Spending cuts should have been a priority all along.
The chance to hold the White House, the House, and have (albeit slim) a majority in the Senate may not come again for a long time.
It could be gone this November.

@GrouchoTex

Paul, Lee, Cruz, and Rubio, or just a combination of 2 vote no, and the bill stops.
Paul will vote no, possibly Lee.
Cruz usually votes for increases of military spending, so I am not sure where he will be.
Not a fan of PP.
Rubio could go either way,
Also no fan of PP.

Maybe 3 more copies of Green Eggs and Ham, since Cruz already has one?

Your probably right but Trump will be making a huge mistake if he signs this bill. This bill gives the
Rats the house in 2019 and maybe the Senate. Certain impeachment by the Rats. That will
effectively end Trumps presidency and make reelection in 2020 unlikely. In short if Trump caves to
the uniparty he is one and done. My House rep voted no, we need more like him in the House.
Cruz will also vote no.
