Gary Cohn to Resign as Trump’s Top Economic Adviser

By KATE KELLY, MAGGIE HABERMAN and PETER BAKERMARCH 6, 2018

Gary D. Cohn, President Trump’s top economic adviser, plans to resign, becoming the latest in a series of high-profile departures from the Trump administration, White House officials said on Tuesday.

The officials insisted there was no single factor behind the departure of Mr. Cohn, who heads the National Economic Council. But his decision to leave came after he seemed poised to lose an internal struggle amid a Wild West-style process over Mr. Trump’s plan to impose large tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

Don't blame him.

But he should have known better before he signed up in the first place.

The fact he's out indicates the tariffs aren't just a threat.

It's not surprising this announcement comes late in the afternoon. The last time it was rumored he'd step down over the Charlottesville comments, the market got nervous. He was considered a positive force for the economic strategy.

If this and about 10 other of these bullshit do nothing positions disappeared tomorrow, no one would ever know.

As for your question, we had a full 8 years of totally insane morons in all of these positions during the last administration and I am still here to talk about it.

The new Fake News narrative is that there is CHAOS in the White House. Wrong! People will always come & go, and I want strong dialogue before making a final decision. I still have some people that I want to change (always seeking perfection). There is no Chaos, only great Energy!

If your lights dimmed a little while ago, don't worry. It's just that draw from the White House, pulling all of the energy.

Why couldn't it have been Wilbur Ross instead, what a CF of an Administration.

That's exactly what it looks like.  Unfortunately.

Exactly!  It's just impossible to help a President so determined to sabotage himself.

With Cohn gone, Peter Navarro is the one giving Trump economic advice. (Pictured here with HRC before his speech at the 1996 DNC.)

I'm liking this. If nothing else Cohn leaving is an indicator that Pres. Trump is in charge. So far I've been surprised by how well Pres. Trump has done. I know he's rough around the edges, but his instincts have been pretty good.

Why not change our trade practices. We have been taken advantage of and the idea that trade with China would create a pressure for democracy within China hasn't worked out.

Oh, so even though it always fails in the long run, you've found your guy that will get it right this time...

Yeah, it’s been fan-effing-tastic to see him follow his instincts to hire people like Manafort, Flynn, and Sessions.  Also, really enjoyed the way he ran through terrible stream of consciousness ideas on immigration and gun control live, before the nation.  Good times.
