Another important stat is this, nationally, 71% of those eligible to vote, register, 68% of those voted in the Presidential election, perhaps 2012, these figures are all online. That really means, that often, who wins, is who gets out the vote. So many people stay-at-home, folks worry, as I do, of illegals being given the right to vote etc. per citizenship or other means in some states but the truth is, the stay at homes decide a lot of elections. One can worry about 1.8 million being given a path to citizenship but it sounds like a sizeable portion of Americans, just don't vote, maybe 40% or more.
An organization sprang up in the early 2000s, a Republican supporting organization and come election year, there volunteers are going to swing states, speaking to as many people as possible to try to get them to vote for the Republican candidates. I think I read an article of this group combing everywhere in Wisconsin to vote Republican. Really dedicated.
So, there are a lot of ways to try to keep the Republicans as the dominant power, make appeals to certain groups, to get their votes say, even if it is just a few percentage points. I don't think one even has to pander, Trump basically makes it clear that he is doing this for all Americans, not hyphenated Americans.
