Stars to wear orange pins at Oscars in call for gun control: Report
ABC News, Mar 3, 2018, Danny Clemens

LOS ANGELES --  Less than a month after a school shooting that killed 17 people, several celebrities are reportedly planning to use the Oscars as a platform to raise awareness for gun control.

People magazine reports that a group of A-listers will don orange pins from Everytown for Gun Safety, a nonprofit organization that advocates for gun control and works to reduce gun violence.

Orange is the unofficial color that has come to be associated with various gun-control causes. Everytown sells orange American flag pins on its website, but it's not immediately clear if those are the exact pins that will be worn during the demonstration.

And after yet another evening's orgy of ostentatious self-congratulation, they will all get into their armored limousines, along with their armed bodyguards, and head home to their iron-gated mansions in the Hills, as protected by 24-hour security systems, and in some cases, by guard stations at the gate.

Same here.  I do find irony that the pins are orange.  Of course, they may have an ally with Trump on this issue
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

I have often wondered performing the act of Autofellatio wilste patting oneself on the back is possible.  But every year holywood has it down.

If you like SciFi, check out that show, “Altered Carbon”, on Netflix. I watched the first episode last night and it looks pretty good.

Thanks for the tip.  I'll keep it in mind for future viewing.  But for Oscar night, I think I'm more in the mood for a classic film from maybe the 1930s or 40's -- back when they made really good movies.

There are no more stars in Hollywood, haven't been for many years, all that are left are one trick pony egomaniacs.

Watched this, again, the other night.  McDormand shines in her first starring role, Coen brothers first effort also.

The last Oscar winner I saw was Birdman -- only because I like Michael Keaton's prior work and a friend talked me into going with her.  When the movie was over, we looked at each other and asked., "what the hell was that?"  Totally incomprehensible gibberish.  Awful.

I am proud to say I haven't wasted my hard earned money on a crappy movie -- Oscar caliber or not -- since.  So I have no reason to watch a bunch of mediocre Hollywood types congratulating each other on lousy movies.

Give me the oldies -- Casablanca, Sunset Boulevard, Singing in the Rain, any Katherine Hepburn/Spencer Tracy movie -- even something silly and more recent like Animal House.  At least these movies were entertaining.  What passes as entertainment now is just drivel.

Let them wear whatever they want.

I won't be watching.

I don't look at their films, either.

Most of the flicks they've come out with have been depressing, boring, politically correct or inane CRAP not worth watching.... if not downright insulting to anyone with a working brain.

Couple that with the partisan hack hate-filled comments many of the Hollyweird Clique have bleated over the last year... and viewership will be waaaay down again this year.   Will that stop or even slow them down from having their yearly 'patting themselves on the back' awards shows?  Hell no.  Won't phase them a bit.

Did they wear orange pins?

Orange is the new black, show about prison. Are hoping that all gun owners will go to prison and wear orange prison garb?

Hollywood who keeps making movies such as crime, terrorism, alien invasions, giant sharks, that demonstrate that Americans need to be armed

"Katherine Hepburn/Spencer Tracy movie"

It took me until I was an adult to realize how good those movies were. I saw "Pat And Mike" a year or so ago, and was surprised at how good it was.  They don't make them like that anymore......hmmmmm......where have I heard that?

Rex Reed...not exactly a reactionary, right-winger...said "I find The Shape of Water"a loopy, lunkheaded load of drivel."
I remember reading a review of the flick wondering how anybody could take the premise seriously.  Maybe as a comedy or horror flick, but as a serious movie?
But this is the mindset of movie reviewers today.
It was the same when I read the reviews of "American Beauty" how anybody could take the plot seriously. And of course one of the evil conservative characters had to turn out to be a homosexual.
Liberals think these these kinds of premises make great movies. I think otherwise.
