Just one day after putting the NRA on the defensive with stunning televised comments, President Trump has signaled in an Oval Office meeting that he doesn't want gun control, according to the NRA's top lobbyist.

Chris Cox, the executive director of the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action, tweeted late Thursday that "POTUS & VPOTUS support the Second Amendment, support strong due process and don’t want gun control."

About an hour later, Trump appeared to endorse Cox's version of events with a tweet of his own: "Good (Great) meeting in the Oval Office tonight with the NRA!"

Actions speak louder then words. I pay attention to what President Trump does, not so much

I understand what you mean but in this case what he did was embolden the Left and give a very strong indication that he is willing to give them everything they've ever dreamed of on gun control.

Right.

I figure its another case of Trump the negotiator being everything to everyone in the room. As he described himself in his book.

The problem I have with that tactic is he's wasting the effect he can have with his bully pulpit. People need to be continually educated, and this makes it sound like an Assault Weapons Ban might be a good thing. Some of his supporters have said as much.

I am so heartened by the huge deficit expanding budget President Trump signed and looking forward to huge increases in the cost of living with next weeks executive order trade wars!

Well, in my opinion, the key is to look at what drives him. 

I agreed with NeverTrumpers who said we have to keep him honest, by keeping on him.  This was something many Trump supporters claimed they'd do, and it's good to see you seem to be keeping to that.

What drives him is ego.  We need to convey to him that he won't have the adoring masses if he goes through with these things.
