White South African farmers will be removed from their land after a landslide vote in parliament.

The country's constitution is now likely to be amended to allow for the confiscation of white-owned land without compensation, following a motion brought by radical Marxist opposition leader Julius Malema.

It passed by 241 votes for to 83 against after a vote on Tuesday, and the policy was a key factor in new president Cyril Ramaphosa's platform after he took over from Jacob Zuma in February.

Mr Malema said the time for 'reconciliation is over'. 'Now is the time for justice,' News24 reported.

'We must ensure that we restore the dignity of our people without compensating the criminals who stole our land.'

Mr Malema has a long-standing commitment to land confiscation without compensation. In 2016 he told his supporters he was 'not calling for the slaughter of white people - at least for now'.

When the Dutch first explored the area, there were only small bands of black tribes spread out. The big black populations of Zulus and the others came in a lot later after the Dutch were there
Of course, their populations expanded beyond that of the Dutch Boers. Even the addition of the English didn't raise the white population appreciably.
So as in Zimbabwe, the great mass of blacks in SA are uneducated. Few have the right degrees/education suitable to run an advanced, modern economy.

I was reading some articles about Cape Town on the internet today. A few articles from the NY Times and the London Telegraph named Cape Town as the best place or one of the best places in the world for tourists.
I was a little surprised by that, because I had never read anything about Cape Town or any place in SA as being a top tourist destination.
Then I noticed a few other articles concerning Cape Town. It has the worst crime rate in SA with a horrible homicide rate. And it appears to running out of water.   Now why would I want to visit the place again?

Upper class Whites who had the means, got out 15-25 years ago when the handwriting was on the wall back then.  Some were ridiculed by other Whites of being cowards for refusing to stay.  More than 10 years ago I recall many Whites who stayed begging the EU to let them have the right to return as EU citizens - but were denied because they were deemed 'racist white Supremacists' and no EU nation would have any of them.

Middle and lower class Whites who did not have the means to get out back then, are now stuck there with no way out and nowhere to go.
