House Democrats have introduced a bill banning semi-automatic firearms in the wake of the Feb. 14 shooting at a high school in Parkland, Fla.

Rep. David Cicilline, D-R.I., announced Monday he is introducing the Assault Weapons Ban of 2018. More than 150 Democrats have signed on in support of the legislation, Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Fla., said.

"Today I joined @RepCicilline and 150+ of my colleagues to introduce the assault weapons ban. It’s time for Congress to listen to the will of a majority of Americans and pass sensible legislation to get these weapons of war off our streets. #NeverAgain #MSDStrong," Deutch tweeted.

I think its good that the dems are over reaching once again.   Instead of having a fight to keep control of Congress the GOP should pick up several more seats.

·         Semi-automatic rifles and pistols with a military-style feature that can accept a detachable magazine;

·         Semi-automatic rifles with a fixed magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds;

·         Semi-automatic shotguns with a military-style feature;

·         Any ammunition feeding device that can hold more than 10 rounds;

·         And 205 specifically-named and listed firearms.


I guess you're OK if you own a Mauser broomhandle pistol.

The left obviously hasn't learned their lesson from the general reaction after the last few mass shootings.

People aren't stupid - they can tell the difference between a genuine desire to protect lives and rank political opportunism.

Well......the AK is 7.62x39 and the NATO is 7.62x51, but I know what you mean.  I have to pay attention in the ammo aisle, because there’s also a 7.62x57 for the Mosin-Nagant.  Ammo sales are usually final, so I’d be stuck if I was lax.

(36) The term ‘semiautomatic assault weapon’ means any of the following, regardless of country of manufacture or caliber of ammunition accepted:

...

“(D) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:

“(i) A threaded barrel.

“(ii) A second pistol grip.

“(iii) A barrel shroud.

“(iv) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip.

“(v) A semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm.

Actually...

The broom handle has a fixed, internal 10 round magazine, fed by a stripper clip.  It’s probably the only semi auto pistol that qualifies.
