Actually, some business owners in Florida might welcome such a boycott.
A friend and I go to Clearwater Beach almost every January. We used to stay at a Mom and Pop motel (now gone). The owner was a native of Western PA, and he and his wife took good care of 2 snowbirds from his old stomping grounds. One day, we were talking, and the subject of spring break came up. The owner said he and his fellow motel owners dreaded spring break. The kids would tear up the rooms, start fights, throw God knows what into the pool, and just generally make life miserable for the owners and everyone else. Sure, all the rooms were filled, but any profit that might have been made was eaten up trying to repair the damage and undo all the other havoc these kids caused.
As I said, this motel and most of the other independent hotels and motels are gone -- replaced primarily by fancy condos and luxury resorts. Room rates are deliberately jacked up in order to keep the hell raisers away. I guess it has worked -- CWB doesn't seem to get the hordes of drunken college kids it once did.
