If you're a fan of NBC's tearjerker drama "This Is Us," you finally learned the answer to the show's central mystery on Super Bowl Sunday: Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) died of a heart attack after exposure to smoke inhalation during a fire.

"One of the complications of smoke inhalation is that it puts a terrible stress on the lungs and therefore the heart," a doctor tells Jack's wife, Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore), during the episode. "Your husband went into cardiac arrest. It was catastrophic and I'm afraid we've lost him."
