Navy SEAL who says he killed bin Laden: ‘A military parade is third world bulls---’
By Rebecca Savransky - 02/08/18 12:13 PM EST

The former U.S. Navy SEAL who says he fired the shots that killed Osama bin Laden ripped President Trump's proposal for a military parade in the nation's capital.

"A military parade is third world bullshit," Robert J. O'Neill tweeted on Thursday.

"We prepare. We deter. We fight. Stop this conversation."

Yep but it seems like it's the media pushing it. Because they want to make Trump look bad.

Good point.  Actually, the media are probably loving the idea of a full military parade, complete with goose-stepping so they could point to Trump and say "See!  Dictator!".

As ex-military, I can tell you that the military absolutely HATES parades.

The only PR event we ever did that was actually worth its salt was a simulated waterborne raid using RB-15s and actual close air support. The crowd loved it and it was actually FUN to do as a unit.

How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

I witnessed two simulated exhibitions by the military.

1. Camp Pendleton (north San Diego County), as a 14 year old kid. A program named Devil Pups. The Navy-Marine Corps staged an amphibious landing. Navy planes overhead, Navy Seals in rubber boats, planting explosives to take out structures that would block landing craft, shelling from offshore ships and from aircraft, amphib tanks. The traffic on the adjacent PCH stopped and watched. Very big, very loud, very impressive.

2. Fort Ord, as a trainee. An exhibition of all of the weapons were exposed to and more. Again very big, very loud, very impressive.

Neither used live ammo. Just shows. But I think the shows would scare the bejesus out of today's weak SJWs, for sure.

My take is Trump may have made an offhand remark, and the media blow it up into far more than was intended.

While we are approaching a 20 Trillion dollar national debt, a parade is an expensive venture and not necessary.

I certainly could be wrong, but after 8 years of being beaten up by Obama, his administration,  the media here and around the world, Trump may think the military needs something to spur them on.  When I was in, I certainly did not like the idea of being in a parade, but you do what you are told - end of story.  Patriotism in this country has fallen off tremendously and maybe a show of force will bring it back.  However, just looking at the replies here would indicate the idea of spotlighting Amerca's military might and it's men and women (gays, trannies, or whatever gender) looking to pump people up in the military, and putting the military in a positive light will fail.  It reminds me of the patriotic malaise of Viet Nam.  Sad, truly sad.

I've seen that take elsewhere, that this is just people getting their knickers in a twist over nothing.
I hope he really didn't mean to hold a massive military parade. It's just not necessary.
