It doesn't matter if one or two of em stood up during the SOU. I think the democrat party as a whole just stepped in a steaming pile and may have ended any hope for 2018 last night. Just IMO.

There's plenty of video footage and still photos, for Republicans to use in their campaign ads.

I don't buy this guys election year lip service. I just agree the rats looked petulant at the SOTU, and you look petulant criticizing Manchin.  If my child cleans his room, I wouldn't take that moment to castigate him for leaving the back door open 2 months ago, but you do what you gotta do Frank.

What has Manchin cleaned? He is telling everyone how great a clean room is while he does nothing to do it.

Did (5) get redacted by the FBI?

No😁.   Clever comment.  Who can kerp track of a numbered list on a phone?  She told me before she shuffled back to her room that she hopes the immigration and security things get done.

She watches CNN all the time.  Probably the first time she has seen Trump unfiltered and unedited.  She tough he was reaching across the aisle in the speech.

So Joe, what'cha going to about it?

Say this:
Quote
"I was very, very upset when I saw the Republicans never, ever stood up with Barack Obama, and there was things I didn't agree about President Obama in his speech," he said on MSNBC.

"But I was taught in West Virginia there's a little bit of respect, and you should show that. And I did that then, and I did it last night," he added.

He's' going to talk out of both sides of his mouth and hope people only notice his wicked bad grammar....

I find that the people who stayed seated were more honest them him.   At least they are openly saying they are putting their party and personal power ahead of the nation.

Then again... that's what DC Democrats have always done.... and will, no doubt, always do.  It's how they roll.

Joe Manchin must think the people of WV are pretty stupid.
Yes, he does. But we're pretty tired of his trying to take both sides of an issue, from abortion to gun rights, and hope to elect Patrick Morrisey our next U.S. Senator.

I'm sorry you don't understand my point.
I understand your point, but the problem is that nothing Manchin says can be considered sincere. What he said was correct, but he didn't really mean it. We West Virginians are all too familiar with Mojo taking both sides of an issue, saying whatever he thinks might be the most popular thing.

Have you seen the video of Joe about to stand up at one point last night, and then suddenly drop back into his seat? He acted like he realized he was going to get in big trouble with Schmucky.

Alleged moderate Senator Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., is going around on cable news Wednesday morning criticizing his fellow Democrats for refusing to stand during President Trump’s State of the Union address. ...

There’s just one problem. When the going gets tough, Manchin is a party man, through and through. Here’s video evidence ...

Hey, people.  Joe may not be sincere or follow through but he did one good thing and I appreciate it.

He castigated the sullen sitters.

He may do another good thing someday.

Speaking of sullen dems, the camera kept looking for Cory Booker for some reason.

I kept wanting to warn him, 'your face may freeze that way.'

I don't know much about Manchin but your line about him saying what he thinks might be popular is interesting in this connection.  Did he get a sense that people were liking the speech and that his party was kicking itself in the teeth.

All I want  him to do is retire from politics altogether. He's a career politician with no accomplishments except his own enrichment (and that of his family, cf. Heather Manchin Bresch/Mylan/Epi-pens).

@Emjay In answer to your question, "Did he get a sense that people were liking the speech and that his party was kicking itself in the teeth," I'd say he saw that survey that came out yesterday that said Trump has the greatest popularity in -- drumroll -- West Virginia.

Retire?   Didn't you hear she passed away a few years ago and what were seeing is simply an remote controlled zombie kept alive by all the botox injections she had over the years.

It's this:

Quote
Sokushinbutsu (即身仏) refers to a practice of Buddhist monks observing asceticism to the point of death and entering mummification while alive.[1] This process of self-mummification was mainly practiced in Yamagata in Northern Japan between the 11th and 19th century, by members of the Japanese Vajrayana school of Buddhism called Shingon ("True Word"). The practitioners of sokushinbutsu did not view this practice as an act of suicide, but rather as a form of further enlightenment.

Would it be correct to assume the dems will throw huge amounts of money into races, like this?

I would think so, even though Mojo-the-occasional-moderate is an irritant to the establishment Dems. They really can't afford to have all three of WV's congressional seats and its two Senate seats in  Repub hands.

WV is Trumpland. If Donny rolls in there and tells folks to vote for a ham sandwich over Manchin, they'll ask if he wants the ham with rye or whole wheat to go to the Senate. Joe is in trouble.

I wouldn't laugh at your post.  Proud residents of a state that prides itself as "the show-me state" voted for a confirmed dead man over John Ashcroft.
