Jemele Hill Exits ESPN's 'SportsCenter'

6:43 AM PST 1/26/2018 by Marisa Guthrie

Michael Smith will host the 6 p.m. iteration of the show solo.

Jemele Hill is exiting the 6 p.m. hour of SportsCenter, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The move comes in the wake of Hill's controversial tweets about President Trump and the National Anthem protests sweeping the NFL.

She will remain at ESPN, where she is one year into a lucrative four-year deal. She'll become chief correspondent and senior columnist for The Undefeated, the ESPN vertical dedicated to race, culture and sport.
Yet another ESPN program no one will watch.

I used to watch a few ESPN sports programs, but the SJW trajectory of the shows finally got to me. It seems every black host (and a number of white or Hispanic hosts) on ESPN sports shows feels it is their obligation to tell all their viewers (who are probably 80% white) how horribly racist they and America are.
Goodbye and good riddance.

We used to like PTI, but lost enthusiasm on learning that Kornheiser and Wilbon were Obama's golf buddies.

She'll also host issues-based town halls

ESPN is doing Town Halls. No wonder they are circling the drain.

I used to like PTI too, but  the Super Bowl where Beyonce did her anti police routine and Wilbon called anyone who objected to it  a nasty racist was the last straw.

Michael Smith Confirms Jemele Hill Was Forced Out at SportsCenter
Posted on February 8, 2018 by Clay Travis - OKTC

Last week Jemele Hill completed her final week hosting the six pm eastern SportsCenter, the shortlived newer, hipper SC6. Shortly after that hosting assignment Hill went straight to the Reverend Al Sharpton’s MSNBC studio to accuse the president of “racial pornography” and “dogwhistling” in his State of Union address which is a continuation of her assertion that Donald Trump is a white supremacist.

In the wake of Hill’s departure, I told you that ESPN had embarked on a quest to get Jemele to quit SportsCenter by slowly altering the show so that it was less WokeCenter and more SportsCenter.

Why didn’t ESPN just force her off the show or officially remove her?

Because they were afraid of the public reaction if they made that decision. ESPN management knew if they fired Jemele Hill or Michael Smith, in the wake of giving them both multi-million dollar contracts and prominent placement on SportsCenter, they’d have a left wing battle with the Al Sharpton’s of the world who would make ESPN’s decision about race.  ...

Smith went on to accuse the ESPN of pushing the panic button and giving in to critics. Saying his bosses at ESPN “weren’t built to take (the criticism).”

“Instead of saying ‘no, this is the vision for this show, this is what we’re doing. This show is about Michael and Jemele and their opinions and their chemistry, and they’re going to do ‘SportsCenter’ their way.’ Instead of sticking to that vision, we immediately tried to merge two things. It was very frustrating…They got what they wanted, which was Michael and Jemele being muted. And that frustrated the shit out of us.” ...

‘SportsCenter’ host rips ESPN: They silenced me and Jemele

Jemele Hill left “SportsCenter” on Feb. 2, but the show had left her and her partner months earlier.

Michael Smith, the “SC6” co-anchor, took a stab at his employer, accusing ESPN of “muting” the show’s personalities by retooling the program in the wake of Hill’s suspension and public fight with President Trump.

What began as an offshoot for “His and Hers,” which was built on Hill’s and Smith’s repartee, was moved back into more standard “SportsCenter” fare after ESPN changed the show’s boss.  ...
