March 29th will be the last time New Yorkers will wake-up to the voice of legendary broadcaster Don Imus.

The WABC host announced on his program today that although his contract runs through the end of 2018, he and station owner Cumulus Broadcasting had agreed to end the deal at the end of March.

Cumulus is in the midst of a debt reorganization having filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December and, according to Imus, the company notified him that under the provisions of the bankruptcy agreement, they were exercising their right to terminate certain contracts prematurely, including his.

Was Imus one of those hosts who relied on a banter partner because he was too lazy to do homework / research?

Who the hell knew he was still on the air. No one listens to 770 anymore.

Never could understand the appeal. His mumbling made him impossible to understand and he wasn't particularly entertaining.

I was wondering a few months ago if he died and I hadn't heard about it. Turns out he was still on the air and I was shocked. Imus and Howard Stern are almost totally irrelevant these days.

More like about a half-dozen of them.

He's been sputtering for years, really. Cumulus is doing him a favor.

He could be a pretty sharp shock jock in his earlier days.

He'd lost it by the time I discovered him in about 2004.

Never had the pleasure of listening to him on the radio show.  I did catch his TV show (on MSNBC i think) several times years ago. I remember thinking how disrespectful it was of them to put a stupid hat on a cadaver and prop him up in front of a mic.

Imus became famous for being impossible to predict. He attacked everyone. He was really hard on Clinton. Eventually his show became all about Imus. He should have been gone decades ago.
