Severe Flu Season Spreads Nationwide
Officials caution that “there’s lots of flu in lots of places,†but the season may be peaking.

After getting off to a quick start, this year’s flu season is shaping up to be particularly nasty. Judging by the latest data, this could be one of the more severe flu seasons in recent years.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), flu activity is currently widespread in most of the United States. Hospitalizations for confirmed cases of the flu nearly doubled last week, rising to 22.7 hospitalizations per 100,000 people — up from 13.7 the prior week. Nearly 6,500 people have been hospitalized since the season started in October.
